Hello,
I'm a 25 year old American with a BS in Business Management/Marketing from a good US university. I've spent the last 4 years working within the IT organization of a very large (fortune 100) US based company. My work has been focused in business strategy and project management within the scope of the IT organization. In other words, I haven't really been doing any hands-on technical work like programming or administering networks.
What I do have experience in is managing high dollar contracts and agreements with IT suppliers and identifying the needs of our business and translating said needs into deliverable IT solutions. I also have done some entrepreneurial side work with heavy technology/software/web dev undertones. I'm confident that i'd be capable of working outside of IT; however this sector is where all of my experience thus far comes from.
My question is; are there opportunities for someone like me in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? By all accounts the UAE seems like a great place to live and work, and I'm very interested in spending some time working outside of America. I'm just not sure if my skill-set is something that is in demand in the middle-eastern market. I can expound more on my experience and education if necessary; just ask!
I've found some agencies that seem reputable (especially with a forum link posted on this site), but is that the best way to go about finding employment? I'm really curious if I'm the type of person that can get work in Dubai, and if it would be worth my time (e.g. would I make a decent living). Also, if I should persue the agency route, any tips for how to get noticed would be more than welcomed.
I truly appreciate any advice and help everyone here can offer; this seems like a great resource I've stumbled upon!
