Blue jellyfish.......

KageofSoul
That'd be the former ;)
Tropic23 Today I was on the beach and I saw few dead blue jellyfishes. Caliber:....10-15 cm, I guess.... My question: Are they poisonous?? I checked already the internet, but I can`t find any informations. Thank you for your help. Tropic23 No idea?? KageofSoul Dunno if this helps... but I found this.
sage & onion
Nasty looking  KageofSoul Just look like blue jellyfish to me. But I guess not all of us have seen much of this world. A lot of things could seem weird/nasty to the callow eye. sage & onion
I suppose I should be flattered by your strange use of the English language;
callow Show phonetics
adjective LITERARY DISAPPROVING
describes someone, especially a young person, who behaves in a way that shows a lack of experience, confidence or judgment:
Mark was just a callow youth of sixteen when he arrived in Paris. KageofSoul
Oh... no need, seriously. Just so long as you can understand ^_^
I can only hope you aren't too unfamiliar with that expression. If you are... then never mind. I'm just used to conversing with my peers. Tropic23
Thanks Kage, but the jellyfishes I saw looked different.
I know the jellyfishes of your pic. They are very dangerous. They can kill you.
I don`t know the english name....
They live normally close to Australia.....every dangerous animal lives down under, I guess
What means "Kage"?
Well, still no idea, if swimming in the water is still a good idea.
Damn... Tropic23
Like a sea cucumber

KageofSoul
Ah... no problem. Sorry I couldn't be of help though.
And "Kage" is Japanese for "Shadow" ^_ ^ Tropic23
Are you from Japan?
At least you are Japan fan....that`s why you use japanese faces like (^_^)
(^0^)/```` KageofSoul
Hah... no I'm not Japanese, I'm Jamaican. Though I am learning Japanese... O genki desu ka ^_^
I'm a fan of many arts and cultures, from Italy and Europe to Japan and Asia. I like to have a variety of things at mind to concentrate on. That way once you get tired of something, you just move on to the other ^_^ Purple Complex In case you haven't already seen, the Wikipedia has an extensive article on the issue, though I'm not sure about the blue pigmentation, do you suspect it could have been a reaction of some kind? As you can see, I'm clueless on the Jellyfish issue, however if they are venomous I think it is a topic that should be aired. A definite "must know" for any local or frequent beach visitors. KeithL I like your Shooter Kitty, Kage He seems to have made himself very comfortable in the""Ridge"... just hope he's not shooting blanks  KageofSoul
Heh... yeah It's just his place of comfort though. The Rifle's reliable and loaded so yeah... no blanks. He also gets a free supply or Tropicana Orange Juice... straight from heaven, weirdly enough. Or maybe it's just some weird flying aliens sending it all from the skies.
Anyways, there's nothing to worry about... the people he shoots at aren't killed. Just severely injured. sage & onion
You must be very disappointed by the WI cricket performance KageofSoul
What? Oh... Cricket. Not sure you would've realized... but not all Jamaicans watch or have interest in cricket. sage & onion Which means that you don't I presume, or are you just saying that because you guys are out of it?
sage & onion
Fair enough :) Tropic23
But you haven`t the goal to work and live in Japan, right?!
My sister studys Japanese.......it`s amazing for me.
It`s a difficult language, I guess.
Respect!!! 8) Tropic23 But that topic is about the BLUE JELLYFISH!!!! No Japan, no shooting cat, NO CRICKET......sage!! Just a clue.... sage & onion
Hahahaha, Tropic tou were even hi-jacking your own thread  Tropic23
I know  KageofSoul Yeah, well I can't say I didn't contribute to the straying off topic either...
So yeah... Blue Jelly fish.... uh... They're shiny...?[/lame attempt at reviving original topic] Tropic23 hahah d3vilish_ang3l_88 i saw these jelly fishes in jumiera beach too.. they were scary looking.. are they dangerous ? Purple Complex Is this a new phenomenon to Dubai or have people noticed this before. Dubai Knight Back on track folks: The blue jellyfish look a little like 'Portugese Men O'War' which have an inflatable bladder that floats on the surface and allows them to move with the wind, but the blue pigmentation is not normal. The other king of blue jellyfish, and by far the most common here in the UAE, is normally available in the local Indian grocery...you get your vegetables in it! There is a plague of these thin blue plastic bags drifting offshore. There is no such thing as recycling. There is no such thing as a conscience about littering.   Knight KageofSoul
Haha... I never thought of that one. Makes sense that people would mistake them for jellyfish though. Concord
Funny you should say that. This mornign I walked on the beach behind JBR and the hotels. There were 3 or 4 peole just looking at this "blue thing" drifting in the water. They were "wondering" what it was. Clearly it was a plastic bag and as I passed I picked it up and said: "safe to go back in the water now (and I couldn't resist) its the sharks you should be worried about" - hopefully they spoke english (beach was full of easter europeans - quite a linguist I am you know  ). Purple Complex
Do you suspect the jelly fish ate the bags and became blue or maybe some members need *ahem* contact lenses. SNA33Y
