ASHES - 2nd Test

the_zooter Here's a message for Ian:
Remember what I wrote before that you rubbished and said I was on pills:

Well the two batsman that benefited from that 1st test match have more than benefited today, with both Collingwood and Pietersen hitting career best scores! COME ON ENGLAND!!!!
sage & onion
It's funny Zoots, Ian is very quiet.
ENGLAND - ENGLAND - ENGLAND yorky500 Guys, Lets not carried away too soon. I agree that England did benefit from their 2nd Innings in the first Test and I agree that Ponting may rue that decision, but there is a long, long way to go and its a damn good batting wicket and we all know just how far down the Aussies can bat. Its hard not to get excited, but I predict a draw. sage & onion
Well I am looking forward to a healthy follow on  ^ian^
That's because Ian has a social life... internet on the weekends? Yeah right?
England have had a good start, but painfully slow. They're in a good position, but a test match goes for 5 days. Adelaide is a small ground, and quite often shield teams can rack up 400+ in a day. It's a batters wicket, a bowler's nightmare.
The prediction is, if there was ever to be a draw, it would be Adelaide, and it wouldn't surprise me. England really should have scored more to be in a better position, but as I said, after 25% of the game and Australia just started their first innings, England have made a good start.
Now I'll leave you nerds to get back to your solitaire. the_zooter
You've got a friend called Ian as well then - because surely you've not got a social life?!?! sage & onion
OK Ian, thanks for your insight.
We will see how it goes on day 3. ^ian^
'fraid so Zoogles, I rarely post during a weekend.
In fact, if I didn't have a social life, I probably would have managed to move into my flash new pad this weekend. sage & onion
Where is the "Flash new pad"? ^ian^
Invitations will be sent for the housewarming party this week :-)

1 Dubai Jobs .com The First Place to Find a Job in Dubai
sage & onion Sounds like a plan 8) isabela
Are Dr. D's patients invited? will there be food? ^ian^
It won't be a general forum invite, too many weirdos and stalkers. isabela
good point..you dont want weirdos stealing treasures on your pad.. the_zooter Don't tell me - my invite is in the post??     arniegang as is mine - obviously  dubailover At least our boys saved themselves from some serious embarrasment....what a lovely innigns form Collingwood and Peterson.....fantastic! sage & onion Aust 3/105 at lunch Come on ENGLAND ^ian^
Aus 3/185 at Tea and yet another century to Ricky Ponting.
^ian^ 3/222. 50 up for Hussey and Australia look very comfortable. Could be another big innings. yorky500
Its gonna be a draw. ^ian^
Nah mate, victory to Australia. yorky500
Dream on sweet dreamer. sage & onion
No chance Ian.
BTW I think you should take Rikky Ponting to Chad, like tomorrow and have him set up and run a local Cricket School, he is obviously past his best with Auatralia  ^ian^
Who's dreaming? The guy is in sizzling form.
Still 2 days to go. The outcomes are either victory for Australia or a draw.
And then bring on Perth!!! the_zooter
And nicely avoided by Ian - who is obviously too busy dreaming of the Aussie fightback.
Speaking of avoiding, technically, the Aussies haven't avoided that yet!! ^ian^
Trying to organise an F-ing fridge delivery.... arghlll!!!

Technically, technically, technically. Don't get all technical on us Zoots. rammie Pontings dropped catch costed us. Feel we are on for a good morning tomorrow and the Aussies will be batting again by the end of the day!! the_zooter
It's what I do best - technically speaking
And what's this about "English poof"?? ^ian^
Just a bit of niggle to get your fired up for the last 2 days of the test.
Looks like Australia are in the box seat. yorky500 Well done Hoggard. What a great Yorkshire lad. nismo
you big fat bald basterd , how yea doing yorky500 Blimey, where you been? Tel Aviv? What you doing there. Less of the fat, the rest is factual!  the_zooter
How do you work that out??
This test has got draw written all over it!
Anyway, time for me to go to work! This test is boring now!! ^ian^
Is that what you say when facing a loss? 8) 8) 8) 8) yorky500
I said that a while ago!
The question is now: at what point do england declare and give their bowlers another shot at the Aussies? I would like to see England post up something like 250ish and then spend 3 or 4 hours having a go at the Aussies, giving them lots of "chin music". ^ian^
Yep, 250 ish would be a great idea. I think it wouldn't take us long to bat that down. yorky500 Not so sure Ian, they may start off chasing it, but, if a few wickets fell early doors, you guys would shut up shop. All depends on how England do tmr morning. ^ian^
England will be all out with a lead of 200 by lunch, none of this declaring bullshit. yorky500 Hahahahahahaha, what a wind-up merchant you are. I am not biting. England may just say "fook it" we will bat all day and let the Aussies toil. Its all about the mindset in this game. England have come out on top in this game, I believe, especially following the loss in the first test. I think the rest of the series is going to be very interesting. ^ian^
If England say "fook it" and just try to block and pad all day they're going to be in trouble. Spin on a 5th day wicket is impossible just to block and pad away and Warnie is a master in these conditions. He hasn't done much this test, but that's because he's saving himself.
Wind up merchant? Everything is going to plan, Australia will win, you will see. Don't come in here calling me lucky tomorrow morning when 'ol blighty is hanging it's head in shame.
Otherwise I'll buy you a pint of the good stuff next time we meet. sage & onion
A draw it will be, I doubt that Australia will get England out in a day, Warne, past it man yorky500
I will defo hold you to that. the_zooter Yeah, definate draw. Aussies can't get us out in time to have a bat and knock off the runs. Same goes vice-versa - we can't bowl the Aussies out quick enough to win. We should have played Monty. Ashley Giles is hardly going to rip through a team with his bowling. I doubt he could run through my sunday league teams side! sage & onion
Roll on test #3, should be ours to even the series  rammie freddies foot fooked!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sage & onion Coasting in for a draw, with old man Warne being the most expensive bowler  Jamal i find myself supporting england for the first time ... even though i know nothin bout test's .. ODI's i get those games .. but no clue on test's anyways .. tierd of em aussi's ... sooo big up to england. sage & onion
Test is same rules basically as ODI except it's 2 innings each side so it's 5DI. Some differences when a follow-on is played, England should force Australia to do that in 3rd test. yorky500 Well, its gone totally "tits-up". What more can you say? we came out with the wrong attitude of dead bat, the Aussies came out fighting. Fair play to the Aussies.  sage & onion
On your knees Yorks,
And pray with me  ^ian^
And you thought I was a nutcase. sage & onion
You are!
It's called lulling the opposition into a false sense of security  ^ian^
Everything I said has come to pass. Warnie past it hey?
Victory will be tough, but it's gettable from here. ^ian^ Time for a smash fest! 5 runs an over required I reckon.... limited overs goodness!!! yorky500 14/1 - sweat baby sweat! hahahahahahahahaha Damn, I wanna be in a pub watching this. ^ian^
Australia require another 147 runs with 9 wickets remaining
Required run rate: 4.6
Current run rate: 6.0 ^ian^ Australia require another 100 runs with 8 wickets remaining Run Rate Required: 4.3 Current Run Rate: 5.2 Come on Aussie!! yorky500 There's 5 of us here in the office, constantly hitting the refresh button on the keyboards! hahahahaha I cannot get the live commentary up like I had for the first test.  ^ian^ Australia require another 84 runs with 8 wickets remaining Run Rate Required: 4.2 Current Run Rate: 5.2 ^ian^ Australia require another 66 runs with 8 wickets remaining RRQ under 4 now. ^ian^ 59 runs now needed at 3.69 runs per over, from 16 overs 8 wickets in hand. the_zooter Ponting has gone!! Might be too little too late though :( ^ian^
Very since there's still Hussey*, Gilchrist, Clarke, Martyn*, Lee and Warne who can all bat. the_zooter Martyn gone!! ^ian^ 4/121 - it's not over yet. Still, only 47 runs required, or about 10 balls to Gilchrist. the_zooter
Does that include a couple of dot balls? ^ian^
Of course ;-)
We're saving him so he can hit a six to win. Clarke in now. Don't rate him as a test player (he did get 100 in the first innings though) but he is a quality one day player. ^ian^ Australia require another 33 runs with 6 wickets remaining ^ian^ Australia require another 17 runs with 6 wickets remaining ^ian^ Australia require another 10 runs with 6 wickets remaining shafique I'm just glad I don't work with any Aussies - just a South African and a couple of Pakistanis! [hangs head in shame]
Is there a sport we're currently any good at? :) ^ian^ Taking too long to finish. Your mates keep bowling down the leg side, pretty soon the umpires will start calling wides. ^ian^ AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! shafique     ^ian^ Rough trot. To go from a 6/550 dec. to losing is very harsh. To Yorky, Captain Obvious, Zoots and any other doubters who said I was mad when I said Australia would win this game yesterday, no need to apologise, just send money. Shit I'm happy as a pig in its own faeces. rammie Just got up ........what a nightmare am i still dreaming?? Ran out of milk so at least i can cry in my cornflakes!! Shocking ! ^ian^ and I think Yorky should buy me a pint, since I offered to buy him one. ^ian^ scot1870
According to the BBC, no team has ever declared a higher first innings and then lost.
In short, England are record breaking chokers  ^ian^
No, Australia are bloody great champions. Get it right.
:D
On another note, heard the drug abusing Pakis were acquitted and are now allowed to play. WTF?!?!? Guilo2 Woo hoo!
Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi oi oi!

That is a seriously disturbing picture  the_zooter
Always look after themselves - they realise that they are useless without those two bowlers. Can you imagine the uproar had the Aussies not banned Warne 4 years ago? yorky500
I agree, however, you will have to find me first as i will be hiding (hint: look for the tallest building and you will find me on top, on the ledge)
I just don't know what say! ^ian^
Geez Dr. D is a genius! the_zooter Lets get some perspective on this - England were just rubbish and had been papering over the cracks of the fact that they have lost two key batsman, an inspirational leader (Freddie is inspirational, but he's not a master tactitian to go along with it), Harmison couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, we've lost a key bowler in Simon Jones (who in my opinion was the best bowler in the last Ashes series), and we've finally found a wicket taking spinner that can get out the top players of spin in the world, and he's left carrying the drinks because Ashley Giles might get an extra 10 runs in the game! Forget the debate over Chris Read and Geraint Jones. To be honest, its a close call, and whilst it was harsh on Read to be dropped, in my opinion they have the number 2 keeper in England in the team, and the number 3 keeper is serving the drinks (the number 1 keeper isn't even on the tour!). The England coach (Duncan Fletcher) should resign after this series (even if they win the next 3 tests). He's had his day, and the one-day form has been woeful at best! My prediction is that there will be two changes for the next test. Saj Mahmoud will come in for Anderson (well, they are both as bad as each other), and Giles will make way for Monty. I'll also predict that unless they win the third test, or get a good draw (ie they were on top for the whole match, but are beaten to the win by a combination of some dogged batting and dodgy weather), then Vaughan will return to the team for the fourth test, and will return as captain. If those things don't happen, Duncan Fletcher should just head straight to his home in South Africa and lock himself in! ^ian^
Are you wearing green and gold?
Don't roll a spinner in Perth unless you think he's truly world class. Perth is a seamer's paradise. the_zooter
It used to be a seamers paradise, but I hear they relayed the pitch and made a mess of it - now its a dead, batsmans paradise.
I wouldn't be happy with us going into a match with five seamers anyway - but I'd be happier than the situation of having Giles in the team - I'm a better spinner than him! sage & onion
I will buy you a pint when I see you.
