Yes, the known and common fear for eight legged invertebrates. A stereotypically common trait of females and one which a considerable amount of mainstream horror-type sci-fi movies have stressed much emphasis on.
Though it did occur to me recently... who here today is in all seriousness, scared of spiders?

I am deathly afraid of spiders....no joke.
I was cleaning out my old apartment one day and these spiders just came out of the trim or whatever its called and I screamed bloody murder. My neighbors thought I was being attacked; bless them.

Depends what kind of spider. Don't mind the little ones. Hate the big hariy ones, and jumping spiders.

Me? Not a big fan of the spider. I can do with out them. Do they scare me? Not unless it's huge. They piss me off more than anything. It's more of an uncomfortable feeling.

Hmm... well I'm not afraid of them either. Though I can't say I don't feel uncomfortable around the big hairy ones.
I caught a Camel Spider in my garden about 6 months ago, fairly big. What'd I do...? Threw it into someone else's garden.

I hate spiders!!!! I`m really afraid of them!!
Especially the jumping spiders and the spiders with very long legs are terrible for me.
I don`t know, why spiders are so scary for me.
Bugs and Co. are ok.....no problem at all.
The 7th and 8th leg.....that`s the reason, I guess......

Spiders have never really bothered me, I've never found any valid reason to fear something that couldn't even grow half my size. As for the bites... well being scared of them doesn't make them bite softer.

Hmm... well I guess their independent and calculated movements and behavior patterns can be either intriguing or unnerving to people. That's if you're going to exclude their distinctive (or not so distinctive) practices in comparison to other creepy crawlies.
Other than their looks and what was stated previously, I don't see what else would make spiders a world prevalent phobia to this day.

Well that's a way to put it. I always thought people were scared of them because they have the least resemblance to human beings than any other creature. IMHO
