Hi Guys, Anyone know of any good Arabic lessons for someone who's native language is English and is flexible enough to coincide with a full time job?
The Big Picture
Hi there,
Let me know if you find anywhere, I am in!
Palkid7
Hi all,
A good place would be Polyglot !! not sure about the spelling !! but they have been teaching all languages since the 60s and I remeber that a chinese guy studied arabic so well there that he became able to understand and compose poems in arabic !! I took some english courses there !! they are nice and prices are reasonable !!! also timings are flexiable !! try get their number from 181 and give them a call or a visit, they are located behind Dubai Municipality's building.
Good luck !!

I'd be interested too.
In fact today I went to the Polyglot website to see their courses.. I was interested in their Long Course - 36 weeks of tuition, 2 hrs a day, five days a week. Takes you from ABC to detailed Grammar and an understanding of literature and poetry.
Then I looked at the cost - 150dhs an hour, so 300dhs a day... worked out 54,000 in total, or about 6k a month!!
Liban, I hope you are cheaper :)
Cheers,
Shafique

I am assuimg that you all know next to nothing of the language?
You want basic conversational skills or to be able to maintain a long discussion on why Zizou fcuked up during the 2006 world cup with his stupid headbutt?
Concord
Basic conversation. Lets start with "you fucked up" in case any of us run into Zizou!

There is no direct translation for that but your could say:
Akalt khara
Farkasta
Nikitna
Or jkust tell him kiss immak ya ibn al sharmouta bint ahbe khalait italia tirbah... Allah lay khalik wa lay wafi'ak ya manyouk...
This last one translates to: Go fcuk your mother you son of a whore you allowed italy to win... may God not bless you nor keep you, you fcuker...

There must be a shorter version as I'll need time to get away (and he may be able to outrun me - think of it my grandmothe could do that).

wait ... so "Be Polite" only applies to me ? thats not fair.
Did you check out Liban ?

I never said that I support those statements against Zizou. I just said what people wanted to hear.
In my opinion, Zizou is football. He is irreplacable and fcuk Italy for stealing the cup from the true winners, France.
VIVE LA FRANCE
VIVE ZIZOU
VIVE LE FOOT
VIVE L'ALGERIE (Zizou's origins)

Hey,
I am looking to have some conversational lessons too and I am told the best place for this is Berlitz Language School on Beach Road - they are flexible with times and cater for people who work 'Dubai' hours !! I think each course (which lasts approx 3 months) is around 2500/3000aed.
Hope this is helpful - may see you there!

If you can try to get Vincent as your teacher if he is still around, he is awesome. I went to Berlitz when I first moved here.
