I'm Bruce I have just moved to Dubai. I am looking for a nice sports bar that televises live rugby union. I went to watch the Lions v. All Blacks at Champions Bar at the Mariott but they told me that due to licensing problems they no longer receive 'Super Sports' signal and that you couldn't get it in Dubai. Is this true?
Is there another channel that shows live rugby? And where can I watch it? Thank you!

I am from SA and are hoping to be in Dubai soon (waiting for my job offer) and wondered many times if those guys in Dubai watch rugby? I am a rugby fan and will miss it, but can you watch international games like the Tri-Nations on the tellie over there? The Boks drilled you guys the past 2 weekends !!! what do you think of Jake White??

i'm not a great rugby fan, but most of the major games are televiesed here in the pubs, the down side is that saturdays and sundays are normal working days here!
they have the rugby seven's here as well once a year - major event!

I played rugby in Cape Town and Durban for 3 years. Yes you can watch rugby on satellite. Also I've found the best place to watch is 'Churchills Bar' in the Sofitel Hotel City Centre. They are great because alot of sports bars don't open early or are closed for lunch, where as they open specially for rugby tests.
Lot's of Bok, Kiwi and Lions fans. Jake White is a great coach. He has done wonders for Bok rugby, but I hope he doesn't take the path Clive Woodward took and STOPs bickering to refs before test matches. GO WALLABIES!
