He's a drug dealer  . Either way, it is interesting to see (a non-resident)someone other than a Britamerican getting such an astounding package. He's thinking of saving half of it already!

Hello there. Wife and I are planning to relocate to Dubai from India.
1. Office is at SZR. What are good residential areas close by to live in? Looking for a 2BR apartment for about AED 110,000 annually. Availability of domestic help and easy availablility of local cabs would be critical.
2. Average monthly expenses (excluding rent) for a family of two (no kids) - electricity, water, groceries, internet, phone, etc.?
3. How expensive is medical and dental insurance for the two of us? Looking for a fairly comprehensive package to avoid running up steep medical bills each time we catch a cold!

Can anyone help with the following questions as well:

3. How expensive is medical and dental insurance for the two of us? Any recommendations on providers of medical insurance?
Cheers!

Based on the replies I would have guessed it would be more really.
Anyways, good for him.

out of curiousity... what's your package like???

It's not the size of the package that matters. It's how you use it.

Care to elaborate?
My husband is being offered a similar amount, and I'd like to know how to work this to our advantage. It is without question a great sum of money, but how far is it likely to go before it is wittled away with huge rentals to pay for.
Still trying to get my head around it all - from home!

well, I've read through the numerous posts on this forum as well as on other sites and have also spoken to a couple of people living in Dubai on similar packages. The common view is that it is a comfortable package and is enough for two people to live reasonably well. At the end of it, how much you spend will really depend on the kind of lifestyle you live. Budget about 25-30% of the package on rentals (2BR unfurnished apartment - mpre if you want a villa). The rest is available for you to spend as you like.
