POLICE WARNING: Mass layoffs of UAE nationals is a breach of the law, says Dubai's police chief.
Arbitrary mass layoffs of UAE nationals by private sector companies breach the law and the country's traditions, according to Dubai police chief Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.
"Dubai Police will boycott local and non-local companies that use the current economic crisis as a pretext to carry out mass layoffs of UAE nationals at short notice without giving them enough time to look for new jobs," he warned in comments published by news agency WAM.

How does police boycott a company? If the company is getting robbed or is burning down, the cops won't show up?

'Breach the law my a$$',
When workers (local and expat) are not performing or become redundant, the result is clear. If locals are being dumped by private companies, then it would be obvious that locals don't all work that hard possibly!!
Otherwise they wouldn't be fired in the first place. The best workers always go out last. ;)

You know I believe Dubai's police chief got some balls holding a press conference standing in the face of such a big international UK news establishment and telling them they were wrong about their news of Dubai airport parked cars a, don't you think? I think that reporter got a 3 days detention for copy pasting news from forums LOOOOL and got such a huge media establishment in an embracing position.
Did they respond to his statment or are they still quite about it, I didn't follow up on that part?

Fine, no laying off of nationals. Ok, fine.
Let's just see what the position is in Dubai when all the expats are laid off instead, all the experience, talent and expertise gone, and the locals are left to run the show.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
