Its a strange concept that the value of shares is not 'real money'. But its true, my niece once asked me about her money in the bank. She quite innocently thought that her £20 deposit was going into her own little locked up cage for her to draw on later. It seems silly, but thats what we allthink about the stock market.
"I have XXX shares in ABC and they're worth 123", but its all speculation. Financial smoke and mirrors if you like. And right now we're seeing the magicians trick is false after all.

There was a story here in the UK about a couple who sold their large family house to downsize and put all the profits into buying gold...since that time it has trippled in value and they are laughing all the way to the non Icelandic bank!

yes its true that gold may remain the best investment opportunity, but after this downfall in the economies price of gold is also declined. So be careful before taking any step.
