You can be the best driver in the world, but if some asshat decides he can get through the space between you and the guy in the next lane, it's all over. It was printed in the paper but it doesn't mean it's already the law. It's still subject for reviews and evaluation. Like you, there's negative reaction on that so called to be traffic laws. Thus, me thinks it isn't implemented yet. asc_26

Brigadier Dr Jamal Mohammad Al Merri, Acting Chief of Dubai Police, said the directions of Shaikh Mohammad are being implemented immediately.
"There will be tougher procedures against offenders of traffic laws," he said. He said preliminary procedures being implemented include supporting the traffic department with more force and equipment and forming traffic teams to monitor dangerous highways. The teams will work as groups round the clock.
"Traffic control by radar has also been reviewed. Mobile radars will monitor roads 24 hours. The number of mobile radars will be doubled to 70 by the end of next year," Brigadier Dr. Al Merri said.

The paper is Emirates Today, and they use one page to show a photo of a red-light jumper per day. Can't waste another page where they could put advertising, ya'know :wink:

Dhs. 12,200.00, its a mockery of the system bear I really don't understand why Dubai, being one of the richest governments in the world and having quite a few rich inhabitants, isn't worried enough about holding a record for most dangerous roads the make some other arrangement than more speed cameras and higher fines. It's a real shame though, considering the Red Range Rover has Dubai Police traffic fines going back to 2002, which also must mean that the car has certainly not had the registration re-newed and is also probably not insured.

Yeah he has kept his old registration number, did it myself for the last 2 cars. However you can only do it when you pay the outstanding fines with the Police Department, so who is this person and why is he getting away with it. jabbajabba There are some total idiots on the road. My first reaction is to want to get out and lamp them..but you cannot do that anywhere let alone dubai and i am not about to endorse it :) Earlier on (off topic somewhat) i stopped to tie my shoelace in the petrol station and a driver in a big four by four paaps on his horn for me to get out of the way (he could not make his turn in the space he had). I should at this point mention I was on the pavement leading to the gas station shop (submerged onto driveway) and was not having one of my best days.
