Hi,
Welcome to Dubai Forums! :)

Hello all -
This is a second post looking for some friendly help ... I've done some reading and see I need to secure a Visit Visa to stay in Dubai for 6 weeks (time I am hoping to use in finding a new job).
In reading blogs, posts, etc., it seems that hotels can sponsor a visit visa. As I am looking to be in Dubai on July 15, can anyone help me validate an approach for securing a visit visa. Anything I am missing?
Many many thanks!

Hotels can sponsor a Tourist Visa, not quite the same as a Visit Visa (30 days vs 60 days). If you're from one of 33 countries, you can get a free visit visa on arrival. Otherwise have a look at this table of to see what might suit you.

Have since found the following on US UAE Embessay Website:
Citizens of the Following Countries no longer need to obtain a visa prior to entry if the duration of stay is less than one (1) month:
United States,UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, South Korea, Spain, Monaco, Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein,Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

That should be 60 days (which is less than 2 months - be careful) at present. Not clear if it will change to 30 days (not 1 month) on 01 August 2008.
