25 Skills every man should know.

Concord I was at some airport and picked up a magazine (Popular Mechanics) and in addition to the article of interest (how to build a nuclear weapon in your attic), it had an article about 25 skills every man should know. I thought it was interesting (well the things they chose) and realized that there are many of the "skills" and don't have nor think I need. Anyway here it is: 1. Patch a radiator hose 2. Protect your computer 3. Rescue a boater who has capsized 4. Frame a wall 5. Retouch digital photos 6. Back up a trailer 7. Build a campfire 8. Fix a dead outlet 9. Navigate with a map and compass 10. Use a torque wrench 11. Sharpen a knife 12. Perform CPR 13. Fillet a fish 14. Maneuver a car out of a skid 15. Get a car unstuck 16. Back up data 17. Paint a room 18. Mix concrete 19. Clean a bolt-action rifle 20. Change oil and filter 21. Hook up an HDTV 22. Bleed brakes 23. Paddle a canoe 24. Fix a bike flat 25. Extend your wireless network Concord Here is my bit, 1. Patch a radiator hose Maybe but have never done it. 2. Protect your computer Not really! 3. Rescue a boater who has capsized. Not without drawning - based on what they explained in the article. 4. Frame a wall Yes. 5. Retouch digital photos Sounds like I should be able to but never done it. 6. Back up a trailer Oh and this is a trailer in the back of your car (not your house). It seemed complicated. Never done it but I am a good driver. 7. Build a campfire Yes but can't make fire without a lighter or matches. 8. Fix a dead outlet yes. 9. Navigate with a map and compass Probably not. 10. Use a torque wrench I can't even think of where I would use one. 11. Sharpen a knife Yes but probably not correctly. You are supposed to hold the knife at a 22 degree angle? 12. Perform CPR No but I should learn it. 13. Fillet a fish No. 14. Maneuver a car out of a skid Kinda. 15. Get a car unstuck Yes but only done in snow. 16. Back up data Don't know. I press the button and presumably it is being done. 17. Paint a room Yes but I hate it. 18. Mix concrete Yes. 19. Clean a bolt-action rifle Never even held one. 20. Change oil and filter Done it once. 21. Hook up an HDTV Probably could. Never done it. 22. Bleed brakes No way. 23. Paddle a canoe Yes. 24. Fix a bike flat Yes 25. Extend your wireless network Extend!!!! I can't even get it to work! Based on the above I might be a girl! Dr.D Seems a bit over the top.

10. Use a torque wrench [color=red]0.001% of people even know what one is, let alone be required to use one to tension a nut correctly. Anyway, if you really want to tension a nut, suggest Concord has these skills down to a fine art.[/color]
11. Sharpen a knife [color=red]because you never know when you'll get into a knife fight.[/color]
12. Perform CPR [color=red]and hire a lawyer.[/color]
13. Fillet a fish [color=red]Suggest Fillet-O-Fish is more common.[/color]
14. Maneuver a car out of a skid [color=red]Putting a car into a skid is the complementary skill.[/color]
15. Get a car unstuck [color=red]Not as much fun as getting a car stuck.[/color]
16. Back up [color=red]data save your porn collection[/color]
17. Paint a room [color=red]red[/color]
18. Mix concrete [color=red]size 9 and a half[/color]
19. Clean a bolt-action rifle [color=red]prefer semi-autos[/color]
20. Change oil and filter [color=red]for deep fryer[/color]

Yeah I know that. Trust me anyday music is better for me. I just thought I might humour or joke around thats all!! gtmash I have patched a radiator hose and got cars out of skids. It's not rocket science, especially the first one (which is really meant for emergencies in the middle of nowhere). Actually, my Merc is still running on two patched hoses, and none of my current three cars have stability/traction control.
