Hi all,
My girlfriend is planning on coming to Dubai and as with everyone else who comes, is looking for a job.
She's just graduated from St. Xaviers College in Bombay and has no professional work experience, making the hunt that much harder.
However, I know that here on DF there are lots of great people who would be able to help her out. Dr. D, Concord, Maad...all the DF oldies. :)
Word of mouth and being referred is more important than CV's I think over here.
So if anyone thinks they can give her a chance, please let me know. She's a fast learner, very smart and would be able to fit into pretty much any role. I know this may seem fussy, but she's not interested in Sales or secretarial jobs. Perhaps more of an administrative / coordinator / and anything else basically. :)
If anyone can, please give her a chance to work, learn and grow. I really appreciate any feedback and offers...

Good luck but it would be hard to think of a job for her unless others know at least:
1. What's her degree on?
2. Has she ever had any job (any job even in school)?
3. What skills does she have (even if only from school experience)?
4. When is she arriving?
5. Does she drive?
6. If so, will she have a car?
7. Where will she live (if Sharjah then entry job in Dubai = No good, etc.)?
8. What languages does she speak?
9. What job does she think she will want to do as first job (other than CEO)?
10. What's here computer profeciency?
11. Etc.
If you post that (without any personal info) perhaps someone will have an apportunity to match. Gotta be at the right place at the right time!

To answer your questions:
1. What's her degree on?
Bachelor of Arts; majored in Sociology from St. Xaviers College in Bombay.
2. Has she ever had any job (any job even in school)?
No :(
3. What skills does she have (even if only from school experience)?
Smart, outgoing, social, attention to detail, motivated, patient. Good time management.
It doesn't seem very 'professional', but its the truth.
4. When is she arriving?
ASAP; end of this month, depending if there are interviews/positive feedback etc.
5. Does she drive?
No
6. If so, will she have a car?
Not yet
7. Where will she live (if Sharjah then entry job in Dubai = No good, etc.)?
Dubai; Deira or Karama; doesn't matter really, we'll find her a place.
8. What languages does she speak?
English, Hindi, Konkani
9. What job does she think she will want to do as first job (other than CEO)?
Lol. Anything non-direct-sales or non secretarial. Stuff like sales support, admin, coordinator. Back office kinda work.
10. What's here computer profeciency?
Good. The usual. Internet, email, MS Office, Windows etc etc. Knows basic graphic applications.
I've been in this place my whole life; and been working for 6 years. I've seen in different companies its not experience that matters; its the person. I know she'll do very well in any kind of role. She just needs a start!
