Hi,

It depends on the basic aptitude and skill of a person.

If you are good at building relationships a marketing or a general administration job suits fine.

If you are good at research a scientist job will be great.

Remember, computers are today at the heart of every job. A marketing person can do very well with additional knowledge of computers. There are many tools today to enhance a marketing persons effectiveness.

Using software, browsing are all great tools for a professional today.

there is quite a lot of events and thus some pretty big event management companies in dubai...what sort of event planning are you looking for...corporate/seminars...or entertainment...if its the latter i do know some people..anyhow your chances of securing an event position is far better if you are actually physically in dubai...as then they can reach you at any point of time...hope that helps..

I believe you should have split Sales and marketing as they are all too often confused and misunderstood.

I'm a brand & communications strategic planner - a very rare profession I guess. The missing link between Account management and Creative.
Running market research, translating that into consumer insights, finding the competitive advantage and developing a communication strategy, not just 'an ad' - it's not something Account Managers are originally skilled to do. Or are they?

The well being of the world largely depends upon the work of the engineer. There is a great future and unlimited scope for the profession; new works of all kinds are and will be required in every country, and for a young man of imagination and keenness I cannot conceive a more attractive profession. Imagination is necessary as well as scientific knowledge.
- Sir William Halcrow

I am far more comfortable solving hard puzzles or engineering problems than meeting people, selling goods etc. So I opted for engineering. But the problem is, the lack of engineering problems in my job in UAE, hard enough to exercise my talents.

I am an account executive from an award winning global production company. We do all types of higher end event production services. We also produce theme park and casino entertainment. (Cirque style) We would love to break into Dubai!! Any thoughts?
I was approached at the worlds largest theme park convention from event professionals in Dubai. They loved what they saw. We are now ready to make the move. Do you have any suggestions where to start? I have now been assigned to create relationships with Dubai.
Thanks,
Amy
