if you can't teach and raise your kids with good manners don't take them to school. what the teacher did was 100% wrong no question asked, but seriously I saw some kids behavior that is completely annoying and where every they go they leave disaster behind them.

It is the same thing when parents leave their kids to play outside in the streets un attendant and after getting killed in an accident they go crying about it or the ones who leave their kids at the mall (to hang out) and never return home!

Seriously some parents think that the world is responsible for their kids..

I agree with you uaekid ,

The teacher really was a psycho ,
C'mon..placing a duct tape on the mouth of an 8-year-old kid,
Thats bizzare, Things like this effect a child's mentality.
Do you think doing this everyday would make the boy want to study?

Well yes what she did was wrong, however the child was repeatedly told to be quiet and pay attention so you can see how a person could get pushed over the edge by that.

The parents here are to blame, they clearly don't teach their child manners or how to behave properly.

If you behaved like that when I was at school, you'd get a whack over the knuckles with a ruler, detention or lines.

I've had worse.I was very weak in school. Why torture the child because of his parents? The best thing the teacher could do was arrange a parent-teacher meeting instead.

The child should have been sent to the naughty corner, or excluded from class until he could behave.

I was temporarily blinded in one eye by one palestinian arabic language teacher in school here in UAE. we were in third grade and general talking going on in class. she came and slapped me across my face - her filthy fingers cutting across my eye.

was in third grade. perhaps explains my arrogance towards these people.

lol hahahah too good :D i can see the lil hitler chatting away in the classroom.

mind you a bit of punishment does make way for discipline. kids in parts of the Middle East are bunch of spoilt lil brats.

its not that bad when you compare it to being hit on your hand with a ruler REALLY hard. hmmm :(

Haha crap, yeah we used to get a wolloping if you were naughty in class, a whack with the ruler, sent outside, put in detention. I hate writing lines, like 1000 of them!

I say parents are the problem. What do you expect from a underpaid, overworked teacher, surely with a lot of problems in these days. She told the brat many times to shut up. But the lack of upbringing was obvious. I guess the teacher was finally pushed over the line.

I've seen the picture of the boy and his mother. A picture REALLY can say a thousend words.

Well, just knowing how kids can be...the duc tape was a bit off, but effective.

Anyway, my father told me a story about his primary school in the 60's.
There was this female teacher, you know the real cun.t type of teacher. If you didn't pay attention or was talking during classes she came up to your table very quietly and slapped a stick/ruler type pointer right on your fingers.
Sometimes simply flat on the table to scare the hell out of you, but they managed to hit your fingers if you didn't watch out when making fun with your mates.

Those were really strict days. And I haven't even talked about Dutch dentists that came on visit during school classes in the old days....true horror according to my dad.

Compared to current regulations...now they are all spoiled brats and treated like softies.

No one has the right to take it upon themself to punish a child in that manner. Teachers are there to teach, not to humiliate students or take drastic measures, and that both humiliating and drastic. She should have removed the child from the classroom (sent the child to sit in the principal's office), but never, ever go as far as she did. She should have also requested a parent teacher meeting to discuss the boys behavior. Obviously it had more of an effect that keeping the boy quite in class as he didn't even mention it to his parents - fear??

In the US, she would have been out of a job in a heartbeat. I guess it speaks as to how she treats her own children, assuming she has children, or at the very least how she would treat any children she would have in the future. On the other hand, I am sure if that was done to a child of her's (again, assuming she has one) she would probably go ballistic.

I'm sure the kids think they had a good reason. But then again, it was in Georgia. I guess it's a redneck thang.
