Living in Satwa or Gold Souk Areas?

Hey All, I am about to be offered a position in Dubai and I really enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Al Satwa and Gold Souk areas. They don't seem to be brimming with foreigners (which I am ok with) but have a great unique community feel to them. Does anyone know how much a one bedroom or studio is...

These are the figures I am estimating on a monthly basis. I am assuming I can stick to it, but I don't know if it is realistic or not. My budget can obviously cover this amount with a bit leftover, but it isn't much over! haha.

Well I have just included everything in terms of AED. Obviously some of the items I listed is covered or partially covered.

Why is it so difficult to get an idea of how much it costs to live here?

Thanks everyone -- I have been in transit back across the Atlantic and was resting for a day...sorry I wasn't quite "on the ball". I appreciate everyone's assistance, even the asshole that called me out for not responding...

Peace.

I am coming solo as well. From my couple of trips to Dubai, it seems like its a place full of couples. I don't know how the single scene is. Even when I've been out, all I see are couples!

NY is a great city, one of my favorites. Don't forget to see Central Park, Ground Zero, and Wall Street. Taking a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is pretty amazing too. I would recommend taking one of those cheesy guided bus tours for an afternoon. Once you've gone on that, you can focus on the plac...

I've been trying to think about this for some time.... And as long as there isn't any security or safety issues, I am game. As for Mongolia, a friend of mine took the Trans-Siberian Train from Beijing to Moscow and said it was the best experience of her life. I got emails from her when she was in Mo...

Based on what I know of Dubai, I wouldn't do it.

You will probably have to commute quite a distance just to get to work because it would be difficult to afford a place in that area on your salary. Once you factor in a vehicle (which I think is necessary), there isn't much leftover at all.

Housing for 6-months only?

Is it possible to find housing for a 6-month term only?

I am looking to share in the Marina or Al Barsha areas.

There are shuttles that run very regularly that go right into Penn or Central Stations from the airports and it is only $8 or $10 -- a lot better alternative than a $50 taxi if you are on a budget.

I think I found a landlady who can arrange a flat share for 5000-6000 AED a month in Marina or Barsha for a furnished place.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks,

Neil
