What you're supposed to do is cancel the Abu Dhabi reg and get temporary "import" plates from them at a separate cost, then drive to Dubai and register in Dubai. Midland Cars in Karama, Dubai (look 'em up) does it all, for Dhs 200. I used them to register a plateless car I bought in Sharja...

I know I can't register a rhd vehicle but surely therre'snothing to prevent me keeping UK plates and using it? UK plates? No. Unless you want to put it in your window as a display piece. Though cars do come from Saudi Arabia, Oman and what not. And RHD cars converted to LHD also do not get register...
