i heard the option to 'convert' your uk licence directly to a UAE one (upon receival of residence visa) was no longer available. you HAVE to get an international licence before coming here now. this came in a few months agi i think, but i came 7 months ago so it didnt apply then

ravis is a great resteraunt i live in bur dubai, again, not the greatest of expat places, but as soon as you know where to go, u will find loads of expats where you didnt expect! some places are very 'local' others are not. my best friends live in bur dubai, and they are all english too! like me!

its only at peak times it really gets crazy, other times the slow lane is fine, because not alot of people about.

even tho i dislike dubai because of:
arrogant needles
bad drivers
lack of manners towards 'labourers'

i am staying because:
more money
more sunny,
better lifestyle,
treated better here by most people, and customer service is great (as long as u dont let them BS you)

while the points are valid, i dont think someone from the USA should be cmplaining, we could all right a list of the problems in America!

dubai certainly is different from where i come from, but at least theres no dole scum, chavs, hoddies, aggressive behaviour and crime here.
