Moving to Dubai with a Dog - what community to choose?

Hi I am moving to Dubai with my wife and dog (Dachshund) later in May. We wont be able to afford a Villa as per our calculations, therefore all is left are apartments. Could you please post your opinions about good places to move to with a dog? I was looking at Sports City with all the greenery, but...

Hi

Thanks for all the input. Although we are picking up the poop at all times, what you say does indicate dogs being there often, which is good.

The Greens have Apartments also, or only villas?

Any other areas?

Thanks

Hi Thanks, I checked for rentals for that property, and they are way overpriced for our budget. We are going to be able to spend maximum 100k/year. I am looking at places on bhomes.com and they are much over 100k. Is there any other location to look for housing? I sent a message to one of the agents...

Hi

I am still looking for the place. Is there any Green spots in Al Barsha? I am seeing a lot of properties there, and it seems my wife would be fine there in the beginning without a car even, as long as the dog can be kept happy on some greenery.

Any info related to Al Barsha?

Thanks

Hi, I am coming over to Dubai for a 5 day visit, and will be looking for flats while there. I wont actually visit flats, just the areas to see which fits our requirements. So far I am thinking on driving by the Greens, Springs, JBT area, Dubai Marina, Sports City. Are there any other places I should...

Hi Just a quick report back, i am in Dubai currently looking around. I have seen only the Marina yet, and its an amazing place, kind of like a beach walk with stylish restaurants and a Hong Kong scenery. As much as I liked it, I don't feel this is the place for a family owning a dog. I walked to the...

hi

That involves crossing through Saudi which is difficult I think, as there is no visitors visa. Maybe a ferry to western emirates and drive from there?

If I am wrong on the visa issue, please correct me

Cheers

Thinking about buying a used Porsche 911

Hi, I will move to Dubai in 2 weeks, and will serve quite a few years there as an IT specialist. I wont be leaving on a huge budget, but I will be able to afford more than I do now. Since I am a Porsche lover, I thought about getting one in Dubai. Any Porsche fans here? I never had one, and since I ...

Hi M! Thanks a lot for your answers, I didnt think I will find a Porsche enthusiast such quickly. To be honest, I dont know too much about Porsches, and I only had this dream of having one for a long time. Initially, while living in SCal, I thought of getting a 912, which is the California version, ...

Hi I just wanted to post back to say thanks for the tip, I did get a lot of things answered there. http://www.dubaipetrolheads.com/index.php?topic=1838.0 The only outstanding issue / question I have is about financing. If I am buying a 10 year old car, can I still get a car loan for it? I will have ...

A lot of people say no-no to financing, and I wonder what is the reason. Is it a total rip off? Sometimes I find my money doing much more in a savings account or on the market than what I would save when buying a car straight up and not paying interest. May the reason be that people are only thinkin...

Non Muslims as well? If so, I would be very interested.

I called the Hungarian Saudi Embassy, and they said other than a Business visa, I have no chance to cross the boarder.

Thanks a lot,

hi

I am still on this topic, doing my research online for weeks now, but still have some questions.

How do I tell a Porsche from being built with GCC specs and one that is not?

Basically I would like a local Porsche, local that is to UAE, and not an import.

Thanks

Hi Right, I did see the prices are a bit outrageous in the Green Community, although I like its location being farther away from the traffic problems. However, as we have budget constraints, we cannot move there, neither to the Springs. I assume we are left with Marina, which isn't best for the dog,...

Hi, Thanks, you actually pointed out the obviuous which I should have known by now :) Anyways, as for Mirdiff, I did visit the place the last time I was there, and I liked it except for the location. I guess one way to tell would be to ask for the early service history. If shopping from Awir Used Car Market, more often than not, their cars are imported and have no records. Thanks, so Awir Used Car Market is to be avoided? I was more looking for things like "Double radiator" or "t...

In all honesty, I think modern cars have fewer differences between regions nowadays (unless it is govenrment-mandated). But I really have no idea which parts could be different. The main reason to avoid Aweer is because they regularly repair cancelled cars from USA and sell to unsuspecting buyers. ...

The 993 is the best porsche 911 built. Its a everyday car and very reliable. It is air cooled and will look very nice with the proper wheel setup and styling. I would still like to have a 997 turbo, prob in the future. The matience is not bad, the car is built well..its like any other euro car..bmw...

Hi I just wanted to get back to the topic and say how and where we ended up being. We settled for a 1 bedroom flat in Greens, Dubai. They went for higher prices than what we were able to afford but then we found one for 100k which was the very highest tip of our budget limit, so we went for it. Havi...

Dear C-dog, Your dogs will definitely require something more than what ours required, but again, your options are broader by the budget. I have been to all the places you mention, and as for living, I prefer the Arabian Ranches, however it has its shortcomings. Traffic is massive in the morning, as ...

Infiniti G35 US model vs. GCC model

Hi All, I am looking into buying an Infiniti G35 coupe from 2004-2005 with a budget of 80-90k maximum. I found one that was perfect, but missed it as I still had my drivers license pending, and by the time I called the guy back, he sold it already to 4x4. They put an extra 20k on it, and selling it ...

Hi,

Yes, those are the things I am afraid of. I need to take someone along, but I dont know any good mechanics who would do this kind of an inspection.

Anyways, I will try and look around Google for something,

Cheers,
