Hi Guys Xmas is obviously not a recognised holiday in the UAE. So what do you guys do if you want to take holiday at this time? Do you find it a problem to get time off at this time of year if you work in UAE. Also I would assume that many UK expats would be wanting to go back to the UK at this time...
I contacted the leasing agent and she said she was not aware of anyone having to pay this tax in Dubai and she rents and does not pay it. She said it was just those who have received housing from the government?
Is this right?
Does everyone pay it? Very confusing???
Hi Guys This is aimed at UK expats - I need to get my health cover sorted before I leave for Dubai next week. I have to pick up my residency visa when I arrive. My question is - where should I sort out the medical cover. Should I do this in the UK before I go (10 days) or should I do it in Dubai? I ...
I have medical cover included in my package (this is just a value in DHS per year) - but I need to sort out the what cover I take out. Should I sort this out from the Uk or do it in Dubai? How long does it take - I assume I have to have a medical? When does this need to be done. I leave for Dubai in...
I have an apartment sorted in Dubai Marina (1 bed apartment). I have some questions on the DEWA connection. I tried calling them but they were of no help. 1. Would the water and electricity be working in the apartment? Its a new building (The Waves). 2. If not I will have to activate it very soon as...
Hi PMS I moved to Dubai this week and found my accomodation last month. I too was set on living in the Greens - but when I saw it I wasn't very impressed with the quality. I saw 3 places in total in the Greens and may have been unlucky with waht I saw. Speaking to other people around the Media City ...
I'll have a look for some pics for you. In regards to the cheques required - you will find that many landlords will now try to get just 1 cheque for any properties under 100K AED. If you PM me your email address I should be able to send some pics of the empty apartment that I took when I viewed it. ...
Its a tax that is put on your DEWA bill (Water and Elec). Its to cover rubbish removal etc. Its 5% of your rental amount for the year and payable monthly in your DEWA bill.
If you own the property then its a small percentage of the total value of the property.
Can anyone tell me where I can look for one brand new or second hand in a show room. Would like to look this weekend. Does anyone know the prices of them new and used?
I've looked in classifieds - but I would like to look in a showroom first.
I think your package is good. You need to look at where your going to live. A 1 bedroom apartment in the Marina will set you back 95K AED a year at least. Then you need to furnish it. 10KAED is enough (Ikea). Based on that you will need to go into your salary to make up the rest. I would take it. Yo...
I would say no - just respect the opposite s.e.x as you should with anyone, and in any place. If you touch a women in any country expect the police to be called or a poke in the eye (or worse). Why would you be staring at a women? You can look but staring at anyone for a long period is unwelcome fro...
You could get a cab but I personally would get a car. Its much easier for getting around and most taxi drivers are crazy with a death wish and don't mind taking you with them. I'm not sure about housing around the emirates towers area but there are plenty of people on here who will know. Try renting...
Don't come here expecting to meet women. There are none here, and the ones that are worth going after have more than enough guys trying to get with them.
If however, you are as good looking as me you will be beating them off with a shitty stick!
You can also check out the following Dubai Police website; http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/dp/english/e_services.jsp?num=SRV Click on Traffic Fines inquiry and payment, enter your d/l no. and you will know if you have been fined, and to make it even easier have your credit card ready and pay on-line....
That's correct. Just make sure you notify the tax office that you are leaving. This can be done via a P85 form available from your tax office or download it via the website. Also if you are going back to the UK you can arrange to continue to pay the minimal contribution to your national insurance wh...
Can anyone tell me if there are any internet cafes in the Marina or DIC area please. I need one where I can go in and use their computers rather than use WiFi on my own laptop.
I have a question regarding Internet use in the DIC region and marina/greens area. Internet connections are not proxyed by Etisalat so there are no restrictions. When looking at YouTube there is access here to what could be classed as pornography? Whilst most of the content is harmless there is some...
