What is the average cost of health insurance in Dubai?

I am considering applying for work as an ESL teacher in Dubai, and I want to get an idea how much I would probably spend on health insurance, to give me a better idea about my cost of living. Can someone please tell me?

Do Korean cell phones work in Dubai/UAE?

I am in Saipan (Northern Marianas) looking online for a job in Dubai. I've been using a Korean cell phone (Anycall/SK Telecom--a phone made for use in Korea), and I may need to replace the one I have before I make it to Dubai. Do Korean cell phones work in the UAE?

Perks? Family?

I assume that the 15,000 Dhs is monthly--that's pretty good. I have over 10 years of various experience teaching ESL as well as a TESL certificate from a university in the U.S. I plan to look for a job in the UAE starting next year. Could I expect more than 15,000 (without "perks")? What s...

Hiring from abroad vs. "in the country"

No, as you are already in the country the employer is not responsible for reimbursing your travel expenses. He is how ever responsible for your exit ticket when you leave (see posting above on conditions). I have noticed that in the past few months a lot more companies are advertising positions whe...

What can I expect in housing?

I'm going to look for a job teaching ESL in a language school or international school. What kind of housing can I expect? How well-furnished would it be? I'm just curious.

Re: Housing for teachers

Thanks! I don't want to build up my expectations unrealistically. I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that there is no standard as such.

Good to know

That's good advice. I was originally assuming they would automatically offer housing. Thanks again. :)

ESL Teaching jobs: What are my chances? (Housing vs. salary)

I read on another posting (by dbxsoul) about the cost of living in Dubai that housing could be around 100,000 a year plus "levy," which seems pretty high when I checked the exchange rates (to the dollar). I want a job that will actually allow me to save up significant amounts of money, so ...

Thanks

Yes, I've used Dave's ESL Cafe, and just recently I applied to some jobs directly. I'm worried, though, that despite all my experience, my lack of a Master's degree would make it very difficult to get any job in the UAE, especially from abroad. Is this true?
