Can I just ask whether its any easier to commute from Ajman to Dubai or is it just as bad (or worse) ??

British mechanical engineer looking for job in Dubai. Qualified to degree level within the Royal Air Force UK. Also many years experience as mechanical engineer with motor vehicles. Age 32.

Can anyone help? I think I am still a long way down the line yet but I need to consider what to do about schooling. I have heard there are long waiting lists for the schools. But also that it can take forever just to get your kids there and back! Some schools seem to start really early in the mornin...

Can anyone let me know whether (I am guessing there must be) there is a property tax like the council tax in the UK and how much it is likely to be on a property costing 1million AED? Thanks.

Thanks both for the replies. I don't really like the idea of dumping my little kids on buses that could be stuck in traffic for hours to and from school. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what is available when (if) the time comes.

Does this only apply if you are renting? What if you share ownership of a property?

Maybe its time for the tenants to dictate rental prices and terms, seeing as there are so many empty places........
