Hi-End Home Audio System in Dubai?

Hi guys, I'm wondering if there are any hi-end home audio (not home video or theatre) equipment available in Dubai stores or malls. I've been looking out for it but can only find shops displaying brands like Bang & Olufsen and Bose systems only. These brands are designed specially for home theat...

Where are the Hotels telecasting the World Cup 06?

Hi All, The World Cup is here and everyone's pretty excited. As some of us do not have cable subscription at home for the World Cup broadcast, I was wondering where are the hotels or places I could go catch a live telecast of the games in the Jumeirah area? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

FIFA World Cup - England Must Lose

Whatever it is, I truly hope England doesn't win. There is so much hype surrounding this team that I hope some lowly ranked African, South American or Asian team would just shut them up once & for all. Eriksson & Beckham could then pack up early & head for home. One need to have some pea...

What's there to be bitter? England hasn't won anything yet for a long time despite all the incredible hype by the media (and your goodself) that they are a "World Class" team comprising of the "best" players in the world. Hahaha! I'm hoping it stays that way - trophyless for year...

Oh, I see, everyone in England is a football hooligan. I think you'll find that if you now compare England with other countries in Europe in that respect, you'll to come to the conclusion that you're talking a load of old cobblers. I don't expect England to win the World Cup and I don't over-hype t...

Please, it's only a game. I'm entitled to jeer for my least favourite team as much as you are entitled to cheer. Don't make personal swipe at each other over young millionaires-who-don't-give-us-two-hoots-and-don't-have-a-brain-but-brawl aka Beckham, Rooney & Terry. Less they may make hooligans ...

GBai, the only English player I called a faggot was Beckham. In fact, plenty of my football friends ageed. After watching the game last night, I'm not so sure if we could also include the rest of the team. Read their excuse for the heat in the way they played against Paraguay. by FIFAworldcup.com &q...

To many of us who know the game, Beckham is not one of the great footballers yet. He just happened to be a British with a pretty smile. England needs a hero & he became the obvious choice. Even ex-England coach Bobby Robson admitted that Beckham is not the best choice for captaining England. He ...

I love to play the guitar but was never good in it - I'm still learning the licks and never quite got over it yet.

Rock n roll seems kinda dead in this part of the world.

It can be frustrating to have lived and worked in a country for 30 years and still be coined as a 'temporary worker' because of the colour of your skin or birthplace. I guess the UAE has a longer term agenda - it simply can't give out citizenship so easily to safeguard its own kind who were here a l...

Mine's "Hot In The City" (1982). But the guy's history now. Whatever happened to him anyway? Heard he was hospitalised for drug overdose in the '90s. What a fragile character. Is it always better for music artistes to burn out than to fade away like what Neil Young would say? Kinda hate to...

The live bands here in Dubai all suck to the bone. But I do sometimes come across certain musicians who can really play the bass, lead guitar and drums pretty well. It's usually the singers and their repertoire that spoils it all for me. The sound systems in most lounges are also equally bad. So in ...

Where are the places that I can go jogging in Dubai?

I love running and it keeps me fit. But there are far too few parks and jogging tracks in Dubai (I think). Where do all the runners go to for a good run these days? It seems there are many sporting goods in stores all over Dubai but not enough sporting facilities like the gym, tennis and badminton c...

So it's either Al Safa Park or Mamzar beach. That's only 2 places to run and is quite pathetic, isn't it? Anyway, I always enjoy my runs at Al Safa Park which is about 3.5km per round. I was hoping to try somewhere else where there is some greenery & not too much traffic pollution. I guess there...

Well, I'm just kinda frustrated I can't get to hear any good (forget about great) bands playing in Dubai, that's all. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh - I'm a music lover as well as the sporting kind; I love all kinds of music except the modern Arabic and Indian dance music (the kind with the mindless l...

Ya, Eros. I think I know where you are talking about. That's a good place with lots of artificial grass and some nicely constructed pavement which is nice and wide I remember.

One could also lie on the grass to do sit-ups/push-ups or simply rest after a strenuous run. Good suggestion.

Dubai Shopping Sale Information

I noticed that the sale has started everywhere in shopping malls. Some have started without prior or sufficient notice and I wonder if all the good stuff has already been snatched up; leaving behind unpopular designs or odd sizes for late-comers as usual. Is there any forum or website that actually ...

Apartment/Villa in Abu Dhabi Nearest to Jebel Ali

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a studio or 1-bedroom apartment/villa to rent in Abu Dhabi as near as possible to Jebel Ali (near Ibn Battuta) where I'm working. I understand there could be some residential towns nearby where the rent is cheaper and only 30mins drive away from Jebel Ali. Although there...

Where Can I Play Snooker in Dubai?

I think I did see a snookerium at Mall of Emirates but they charge an astronomical price of AED50/hr? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Are there any more outlets in Dubai at a less ridiculous price for amateurs like moi?

Thanks Maaad,

Looks like there is very little way out of this rental trap we are in at the moment that is burning a hole in our pockets.

I heard that there are also some accomodations in Dubai Investment Park. Is that a good alternative?

I mean the 6'x12' snooker game comprising of 15 red balls and 6 coloured balls (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black), and not pool which is aplenty and easily available in Dubai.

Thanks.
