Hi
Try www.khaleejtimes.com and go to the relevant classifieds section. Seems to be cheaper cars in there than Gulf News.....maybe most in GN are dealers and newer cars?? Also there are a stack of other websites if you do a search for UAE classifieds you'll get a choice!
Cheers!!

Kelly1966- a good place to look for maids/helpers/nannies is on the notice boards in the supermarkets like Spinneys and Union Coop. Expats being transient often advertise everything here. :)

Yeah, I'd have to say Explorer publishing seem to cover all bases when it comes to the UAE-their books are really great! There is everything from off road, underwater to family explorers.

We walk our dog around the block in Jumeira but he really likes the water and we take him to the beach at Jebel Ali on weekends.

Fun stuff....hmmm, going to the beach is free (some places like the beach park have a fee of 5dh I think but I don't know what the difference between that and going further down for free is) and the beaches are nice. Jumeirah is very close and Jebel Ali is not far-alot of people are into kite surfin...

Try the notice boards in places like Park n Shop, Union Coop and Spinneys-all supermarkets-Try the first two on Al Wasl Road I know I've seen people with notices up regarding shared rental. Also the suggestion about the paper is good there is also Kaleej Times too and they do have classifieds on line.

It all depends on your budget and what is most important to you. If you live in Jumeira/ Umm Seqeim you would be very close to many schools and nurseries, a variety of supermarkets and shopping complexes and Jumeira Beach with easy access to Sheikh Zayed Road and a quick car ride to most major malls...

Chocoholic is right- our general practioner charges DH 230 and dentists are around about the same of course any treatments enhance your bill further. By the way you are a short drive from Dubai Country Club-I think membership isn't too bad there but they have a website so you could inquire. If you live in Satwa you are 5minutes from Jumeira Beach by car and about 30min from Jebel Ali. If you are looking more at exercise, gym equipment is really r...

Sounds more than pretty good. A long time since we were in Sing but we were paying far more per annum for an apt than the house we have here!! Cars are cheaper, petrol is cheaper and food is cheaper than Sing by far! Do a search on COLA indices and you'll see that Dubai sits well below Sing. Alcohol...

Well things must have changed since 2002-we were paying S$5000, unfurnished, per month for an apartment! (have a house here and works out to DH8000 per month) Rents must have really dropped. Food-eating hawker stall stuff granted, is cheaper but Aussie lamb chops starting at S$20 per kilo compared t...

Not as far as I know. There are some good restaurants here though and a huge range of dining experiences. I am quite happy getting a cheese arabic bread from Al Reef Bakery for DH4, then again places like Asha's and the Thai restaurant at Wafi are nice and the hotels seem to have some good buffets a...

I think someone said it before-race or more specifically country of origin is a determining factor in salary. I think you'll be hard pressed to find any salary ranges that will specifically point out that "if you come from blah, blah expect to be paid "X""-politically incorrect. The best advice anyb...

Dubai Explorer lists quite a few-Al Boom has a dive centre on Al Wasl Road and I am pretty sure you can do a course thru' Jumeirah Beach Hotel and I think you are allowed to use their facilities if you do this.

The supermarkets are Carrefour (which has a website BTW), Geant, Spinney's, Choithrams, Union Coop and Park n Shop. There are others like the one at the top of Lamcy...is that Al Maya?? Not sure, and I've seen LuLu advertised too. Spinney's is expensive in my opinion but has everything (and I am not...

You can get the dacron type one from IKEA but the closest I've seen to a protector of the type you are talking about is flock backed vinyl table cloths.

Also try the notice boards in Spinney's, Park n Shop, Union Coop etc and the Gulf Classifieds for second hand bargains. Other furniture places include Marina-nice wooden stuff, and reasonably priced for what you get. Depends if you are after modern or antique looking furniture.
