The guys i am working with on a project are generally earning around 1000 a month maximum, for unskilled labour. The guys who have an education, and occupy better positions (like supervisors or safety officers), are earning more. A Safety Officer, for example, can earn around 8000 to 10000 per month...

Hi! I should probably ask this question in the forum you mentioned, but I'll try here first! I went out into the desert for the first time yesterday (after 10 months of thinking about it), with 3 friends. We went in My Fortuner (2.7 VVTi version), and took all the right kit in case we got into troub...

It's a Toyota Fortuner 2.7 VVTi....with some extra trims round the bottom (which i thought were destined to come off). No problems with the springs - it bounced pretty well on landing, and no problems afterwards. I think maybe the engine is not big enough for the weight (reading the post above about...

@ desertdude: Thanx for the words of encouragement - you are probably right - driver not the car!! I did go in one vehicle, but purposely chose the easiest route in the book, with a lot of it being on an access road under pylons, and on fairly firm sand. Also, there were a lot of other vehicles arou...

I happened to be back in the UK last week, and caught the documentary in question - it was a Panorama report (half an hour's worth). The reason for the documentary, i believe, was that the companies on question are endorsed on a marketing level by leading Uk "celebrities", such as Michael ...

I don't see prices in Dubai Marina and JLT at 70% less now than what they were before. I haven't seen them drop that much but I do know that they will continue to drop and have not seen bottom yet. Wait till desperate sellers try to sell this summer in Dubai. Will be a dry and hot summer this year ...

Same thing on the roundabouts in the Greens. Right on the edge of the roundabout, on all four entry/exits. I never know whether to stop (which always seems the "right" thing to do), or carry on (which is what i tend to end up doing). I can't remember everr seeing official crossings in the ...

Well done to UAE Kid for shedding a bit more light......it just goes to show how a lack of information can taint a story one way or the other (by the way, it says three years in jail, not nine! ). I do think that even though it may seem distasteful to some that people seem to literally "...

I was going to say that too!! I youtubed it as well, but my connection here is appalling and got bored waiting for the tune to kick in to confirm.

Try being fast with an Etisalat radio link carrying your internet......never mind. Maybe someone else has a tune bugging them and i can try again.....easier if you know it straight away rather than asking google, etc - i might stand a chance that way. :)

I actually find the whole "more money than taste" thing great! In the UK, outside of London, you're lucky to see a Porsche. Here, you see every car you could think of. And top-spec at that. Got home last night to find a Maybach limo parked in my parking space, with the chauffeur polishing ...

Been in the same situation (sort of) a couple of times on the same road. From Munich take the A8 (i think) towards Salzburg. Just after the Chiemsee (a big lake), take a right and head off down the "Deutschen Alpen Strasse" (german Alp road) towards Bad Reichenhall/Berchtesgaden. It's a nice drive that gently takes you into the Alps, and some stunning scenery. ...

What's interesting is that it is (allegedly) partially Palestinians being deported, when only 9 months ago we were all celebrating the New Year without live music and fireworks, etc, in show of solidarity with them while they were being pummeled by Israel (and giving some back, for sure). Now they s...
