I noticed the Iraq body count website had been secretly counting deaths during Ramadan. It turns out, during the past thirty days, 565 Iraqi civilians (Iraqi government and security forces are included) were killed.
Previous months had seen an increase in killings but did not compare to the number of deaths inflicted during Ramadan.

Whatever the reason to explain the increased violence during Ramadan, it is nonetheless interesting to note the correlation between increased terrorist violence and the Muslim holy month.
