So we are moving to Dubai in January. We will be shipping some personal items. Is there anything you can think of, that you wish you brought along? We will be provided with a furnished house.

those basic lonely planets books really help to understand dubai, i suggest you bring one of those, the maps are generally updated and are a godsend if you intend to drive around as soon as possible.

a wifi ready laptop should help also

Actually, I couldn't think of anything to bring....as you just mentioned you will have a furnished apartment...so nothing else really...coz everything is available in Dubai..whether it's the true thing or copy cat...

Unfortunately you will find that not *everything* is available in Dubai.

Most necessity can be found here in Dubai.....if you really look around and not just the malls....

if you can't find it , just keep on lookin...you'll find it one day.......or try asking.....that would help.....
