Harrasment on the Road to Abu Dhabi Jun 19, 2006
Yesterday I drove to AD and after stopping at the first ADNOC for petrol I got harrassed by men in two cars.

The first driving at 120km alongside me with his windows down was gesturing for me to give my phone number, I sped up to get away but was still chased at 140km then I picked up my mobile and made to call the police and he sped off.

The 2nd drove alongside me after the 1st guy pi$$ed off and once we got to abu Dhabi he gestured for me to pull over and I shook my head and then he put his hands together, please please. Finally I flashed my hand at him (with ring) and he's like sorry sorry and sped off.

Is this normal? i know women get stared at, but chased in cars??

Where's the weirdest place you've been harassed.

Lets just say for starters you don't want to be walking within "reaching" distance from cars on the street.

I'd rather wish all countries legalize castration... I remember something about it in the US. They were thinking of castrating sex offenders, rapists, pedophiles,... Some guy was actually asking for it because he just couldn't control himself. This might sound barbaric, but it isn't more cruel that what one of these sick bastards could do to a woman.

Are national women harassed? Does wearing an abaya protect you from this?

Not sure... Anyway I am not sure this happens THAT frequently. Just act as if you're calling the police as soon as someone bothers you. Or just call them and do all women a favor by putting these jerks behind bars...

...

I really really don't think you will need any of this in Dubai. It's one of the safest cities I've been to and there're always ALWAYS plenty of cars on the roads so the chance of you getting chased by someone with no1 around is close to 0.

As to being hit on by some guys in clubs/pubs well it's the same as anywhere else. Unless you always paralyze guys who try to talk to you...

Liban I am quite offended by your comment.

And I don't think your wife would be very happy either to hear you talking like that.
