To clarify things, I am English

Salary US$ 28k per annum
Housing Rent Allowance $12k
Transport Allowance $4.8k - not sure where I would live yet, but would not want to be too far from the office
medical insurance with ALICO
1 economy return flight per annum
30 days holiday per year

also the employers want a 3 month probation period in the contract. Is that normal in Dubai expat contracts?

thanks again

Salary US$ 28k per annum (Dhs. 8600.00 pm not a great salary)
Housing Rent Allowance $12k (Dhs 44,000.00 in Sharjah you may be able to manage a small apartment. What about furniture allowance?)
Transport Allowance $4.8k - not sure where I would live yet, but would not want to be too far from the office ( Dhs.58.00 per working day, if you are within a fairly short distance from the office you could manage with taxi every day)
medical insurance with ALICO (You should clarify which level of cover)
1 economy return flight per annum (Should be 2)
30 days holiday per year (Clarify if working days or calender days, exclusive of local holidays)

also the employers want a 3 month probation period in the contract. Is that normal in Dubai expat contracts? (3 month probation is normal)

thanks again

That would be roughly 13700 AED per month. Not a good one if you want to live in the mid to upper level. After all, it depends also on the job role you're applying.

Thanks for your useful replies. found out that I would be working on the Riga Road in downtown Dubai.

Is it normal to get a relocation allowance?

I thought it was Sharjah.

If it is Rigga road you should try to get a place within short distance your housing allowance should be increased to cater for this minimum Dhs. 80,000.00 per year. Driving to Riga Road and back from Sharjah will cost you minimum 1 1/2 - 2 hours each way every day.

Re-location allowance you should try for it, as you will have to furnish your accomodation.

Good Luck
