The real Dubai? Oct 31, 2008
Slm au alaykum

has anyone photos or links to pics of everyday real Dubai - after all I'm sure you dont all live in those hotels.........

I would like to see pics of the poor local's homes - the immigrant house builders dormitories, where you all live ....... the bad roads - the lack of greenery...... I'm not looking to criticise or put down Dubai - I just want to see what you all see...... not 5 star hotels as is what I have found so far.

I am in the process of starting to approach British curriculum schools seeking employment - can you recommend any?

Many thanks

There was this stupid movie back home about Dubai. And then recently a documentary showing only the beautiful places in Dubai. I immediately got phone calls from friends back home telling me that they didn't know Dubai was so beautiful and all and how they all wanted to come here now.

Have any of you seen Dubai: Night Secrets? It is a 12-minute documentary about the plight of se>< workers in Dubai. Very insightful, especially when you look at the context in which some of the "official" comments are made.

May be in Deira, somewhere at Al Nakheel street? Lack of green but lots of smells and dirts. But.... peacefull.

There are still some areas of Dubai the police are trying to clean up as they are really not safe to walk through at night, particularly if you are female.

best quote I heard about Dubai was from a Singaporean who had spent a couple of years there.

Dubai is like an expensive wardrobe, it looks nice from the outside but open the doors and you see all the crap that it's trying to hide.
