The Croc Hunter no more... Sep 04, 2006
Not a huge fan of the bloke but still a good aussie personality.

Steve Irwin, the Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition, Australian media said. He was 44.

A helicopter carrying paramedics flew to the island, but he died from a stingray barb to the heart, ABC reported on its Web site.

RIP Steve.

It is somewhat ironic how he's encountered some of the most dangerous animals/reptiles in the world yet gets taken out by a stingray.

Personally thought he was abit of a clown on tv but much respect to his work towards preserving nature through funding for wild life sanctuaries, sponsorships, education programs... the list goes on...

May his noble soul rest in peace.

Never saw his shows except for a few of his commercials.

Based on the comments from all of you. Lets hope that someone else comes along to carry on his good work.

Prayers for the family of course.

I don't find this very funny.

I had the pleasure to meet Steve Irwin in the early 90's and back then he was a genuine individual that had just set up a small Crocodile Farm on the sunshine coast.

In an odd, way, this really hurts and was a downer on the day.

This is so sad. Steve was a great advocate of wildlife, conservation and education on the natural world.

His shows, his vitality will be missed by many around the world. I hope others continue his fantastic work.

Everyone will be able to watch him one more time because his family wants the video footage of his death to be released to the public.
