Staying on after tenancy contract break/penalty payment Jun 20, 2012
Hi,

I have to take up a job in a neighbouring country, but want to send my family to my home country earlier.
I am serving the notice period at my company in Dubai.

I wish to break the tenancy contract and pay the 3 months penalty.

Question: Can I break the contract now, pay the penalty and keep staying for say 2 more months?

Regards

I think this is a question you should be asking your landlord really.

Hi,

Before I talk to the estate agent managing the property (no direct owner), need to be sure that I can negotiate such a clause.

Again that's something only the agent can negotiate and advise you on. How long is left on your contract? Maybe they'll agree to just let you leave early if you find someone else to take over the lease.

It should be in your contract the clause about breaking the lease, the common penalty is 2 months fees of the annual rent
