As for career opportunities its a growing cities and there are lots of things here however you will have to take the time to research and look for a job. There are lots of job in this town however the key is to find the quality ones. Marketing is probably the biggest of the three fields you mentioned. Fashion and arts are still young but its definitely good to be part of something when its just starting to grow.

hehe i dont know if there are lots of those, but there are some art gallerys, nice cafes, and a few clubs that you might like. Check out and you can find more info about places to go out.

There is a growing Chinese community in Dubai, and to be honest i cannot answer this question for you because i wouldnt know. But i know there are some chinese forum members who live in Dubai and they might be able to give some insight.

as maad said yes there is a growing number of people from far east and china and canada in dubai...in fact there are a couple of peeps in here ...but not frequent visitors anymore...thier nicks are magnolia and whatthehell...i know them pretty well and will pass the word around...there are a few canadians in here too...kanelli and fayz...since you are coming from vancouver BC...the art/lifestyle cafe scene is still at a mushrooming stage...there are art exibitions by creative majlis and some plays/theatre that passes through town...you've got to keep a look out as maad suggested thru
the club scene is pretty good...and there are top notch clubs such as trilogy/appartment/loft/IBO/pepperment/zinc...worth checking out as a visitor...since you are arriving in dec...the party scene will be in full swing to begin with...hope you do find employment here...its a good town to work in for a few years...and its growing every minute...!!
