Slm au alaykum to you all,
I am a British convert living and working in North Cyprus with my Turkish husband. We like it here but feel a move could be good for us.
We are just starting to make inquiries about moving to Dubai, hence joining this forum.
Any other convert/Muslim ladies out there? Or Turkish Muslims? We would love to chat to you.
I am looking for teaching work - I'm a secondary maths teacher and my husband is an international chef.
IshAllah Allah will guide us.

Wa Alaikum as Salam,
Alhamdulilah sister, My name is Zaylanin, I am a revert from the US...very unhappy here. Inshaallah, my husband and I would like a change in what we call "home". We are interested in Dubai as well. Pass down the info if you get any and Inshaallah, I will do the same.

Slm sister Zaylanin,
MashAllah you are a revert, we are two very lucky women to have our eyes and hearts opened to this life.
I am sorry to hear you are unhappy - are you in the US now? We are in sunny Cyprus - we are not unhappy here - but it is not somewhere we want to live for a long time. We moved here a year and a half ago - and have settled quite well - making friends etc. We would like to live in Turkey but I wish to keep teaching and this is not possible as hijab is banned in schools in Turkey. So we are looking for somewhere we can both work for a few years - and to experience another country/culture. IshAllah we will go where is best or stay here if thats our path, we trust Allah to guide us.
From reading lots about Dubai so far the cost of accommodation is a worry. So far this is the biggest thing on our 'reason not to' list. But this may change if I can secure a job with accommodation. We will see.
IshAllah we can help each other.
Jazak Alllah x

Selamunaleykum. the variety of cuisine here is amazing though Dubai still in need of Turkish Chef. this's my second month here and came accross only one Turkish restaurant which is the part of a hotel in the central.
Is your hubby a Cypriot Tuirkish, otherwise they have a fantastic kitchen that will blow Dubai...
hope things work out nicely for you and your move will be smooth and easy one..
oh by the way I lived in the UK for a long time and quite familier with both culture..

wa alaykum as salam (sister?)
Insh'Allah they will need a Turkish chef (he is a mainland Turk not Cypriot), I am busy applying to schools at the moment and hope to secure a job in the new year. I love Turkish food - especially anything with chilli pepper - which is most dishes from his region. The fruit and veg is so fresh in Turkey - really spoilt. I hope it is as good over there?
Cyprus is not so good as there is very little rain here- 5th year of not enough - so it is either expensive or just not as fresh.
Where in the UK did you live? We are going there over the Christmas holiday as my school here is closed for a week. First time for husband - just hope its not toooo cold..... brrrr... ice and snow last week. Its just about jumper weather here - although the British tourists are still in shorts and t-shirts in the daytime!!!
I look forward to hearing from you again.

I arrived in Dubai ten weeks ago and although have not been to most places yet, I remember from my other visits, that there's not much Turkish restaurant here and it would be fantastic to have few..
despite being the third big island in mediterranean, Cyprus is little bigger than a village with its population, infostructure and economy; I think it is a little dull and glum..
I lived in Leeds, Kent-Rochester, Exeter, and London before I moved here.. I don't plan to go back yet, not at least before the summer and hope you've a good time..
nice hearing back from you and hope to write soon..
take care and stay in touch
