Newish to Dubai and thank you!


Lou So I am newish to Dubai and just wanted to say a thank you to all those who have posted useful information on this site! It has been helpful since my move from London, UK, getting visas, accommodation arranging to get a car. :roll: I have read a few posts on this site about people looking to making friends and I can understand the worry – basically the advice I can give is get out there and start socializing – take full advantage of all invitations you receive you never know who you may meet. My office is full of all men (all expats and small company) but everyone has been really helpful giving advice where to go and going out on the evening and introducing me to people especially other girls – you do miss girlie chats! For moans/groans/advice etc. But my question is where can we meet like minded group of other girls ? I read somewhere that DF organize evenings out ….where can you find information on that ?? If anyone else that is new to Dubai needs help/advice - send me an email and we’ll chat! So hello to you all!!! and look forward to exploring Dubai! 8)

hey all, id love to make paintball and get shot a lot and go to work with bruises...prove my manliness and all... but unfortunately, im gonna be hung over from getting wasted all weekend (real men drink booze and throw up), so dont think i can make it. u know how it is....
on a more real note, lou, your desert thing sounded cool. been talking to some people who tell me about "redneck" parties (derived from the species "americanus hill-billicus redneckius" whereby people drive out into a desert, bring some old couches or seats or something, then proceede to barbeque, drink, shoot bb-guns and things, and just generally make merry. could be fun to plan a trip like that sometime... maybe a post party to lay around and eat and rest in the sun to recuperate from the night before. as you can tell, living in dry kuwait all week makes me want to make the most of my weekends (although ive been hearing about some desert raves and illegal boat parties in kuwait...would be sweet to find them.... then again, heard about 20 foreigners who are getting lashed publicly in saudi for "attending a party where alcohol was served and men and women danced"... so maybe ill pass) Not_Sure You talk alot like this in a night club too???? :? (will stay away from u in real life) Lou MaD - OK so I am sure there is a dig in there somewhere about totally flaking out last weekend..... :wink: mmmm...you don't need to use me as a scapegoat for paintball :D and I never condone the consumption of soooo much alcohol you might be sick...lol...just don't mix your drinks.. :shock: This weekend was just thinking about of the possibility of a chill out afternoon at the beach - if the weather is good, picked up my new jeep tonight so eager to try it out on the sand (just not to mad as it is new ;) ) and only if it does not rain! We have room for at least 8 of us – there are a couple of jeeps. Jebel Ali beach camping was so much fun you so should of come down...but you were right it was a bit cold and then it did rain! I had my ski jacket on to keep warm and ended up sleeping in the jeep I was so cold...cheap sleeping bags/tents from Geant...not good. Can't really picture it turning into a 'red neck/hill billy' party, try more of a Saffer chef combined with Dutch party planners you come up with an interesting 'cook out' ...We did organise it last minute but next time we’ll plan it properly....probably at the end of the month when weather might be more promising...catch ya tomorrow. cyrix too much text to read...people...stick to simple ...2-3 lines...:) MaD..we will decide the place at my place tomm...do come Lou Your just tired! what kind of a vibe dude :?: :D enlighten me please Lou DF Social Events Manager for newbies and gurus alike....mmm found my new calling....my contractual rates are very reasonable LOL :) Always happy to organise events for people to meet up as it is a different experience to get outside your own comfort zone and meet new people. Jeevan when u organise something for both the genders next time lemme know even if i am not around will let a few veterans know who are not on the forums anymore, but still actively meet up :) they have become compulsive lurkers on the forum now. Jeevan to quote just use the quote button on top right hand corner of the post :) i am not a party animal though i just like meeting up people once in a while make new contacts, prefer a quite evening or some activity :) i cant let my hair down and dance away ( coz i shave them off ) :) . so more of a outdoors kinda person if work permits . cheers, J Lou In total aggreement with you....I am not a party animal in the sense that I am out dancing/socialising every night of the week if that is how the 'Paris Hilton' comment came accross....no no no no...I did not mean a direct comparision. :oops: ..I enjoy a club night once in a while. But I just enjoy meeting friends for coffee/shiesha...chilled nights at a good venue for dinner...love Dubai Marina...I even joined the gym again..that was painful...so back to playing tennis..and then camping and bbq on the beach comes top of the list.. (when it does not rain) just a totally chilled evening..so far! Jeevan there we go , same here, have given up shisha ( not that i had it many times) have cut down smoking, and am working my butt off at the gym as well. hmm at times marina gets too far off, usually am around irish village century village, couple of times have managed to reach as far as madinat lol.:) but usually conversation is the key. :lol: cyrix hola so paris....whats up? btw, im getting my place cleaned up as i type....did i really have to do that...aaaugh....friggin formalities. oh yeah....MaD ...dude..today we will...go full blast...i mean...we still havnt...ahahahaha...paris...i have borat for u on dvd....u can watch it when ur over...:) lol...hahahaahha!!...hmm..i wonder..if we can play borat....will people notice....hmm...... btw...do i have to sign up miz gold member?...or we can all just walk in tonite?
