Need some info please

nattxan Hi everyone, Im an aussie and looking to come to dubai in August. I would love to get some info about the cost of living and the lifestyle in Jumeirah. I am a very independent single mature lady, and I have been told that I may find the lifestyle a little restricting. I am hestiant to believe this. Can anyone hlep me out with this info please
smartd Try searching around the other sections of this forum. You'll find everything you are looking for and more. Post back specific questions and one of the addicted members will reply in +/- 0.01 second. Cheers, D arniegang welcome A64Venice Welcome to DF! Dont feel restricted in here. :P sharewadi
A little? Possibly. Depends on what you mean. There are not really any restrictions on being independent, single, mature, or female here. Some things may annoy you like men in cars with dark windows asking you "how much?" in the middle of the day, and they're not referring to the grocery bags you're carrying back to your apartment. Or being able to go to the front of queues because you're a woman. Or the patriarchal nature of society here (no female pilots work at EK for example) and so on and so on.
You can find cost of living information (but the search page is better). nattxan thankyou for the responses so far. Some specific questions - does anyone know anything about Illithad (I thik that is the spelling) Private School? Do the ex-pats keep pretty much to themselves generally, or are they pretty open to joining in with all the culture diversity? Can you reccommend a good web page to get someidea of the lifestyle, rather than the glorified tourist sites? sharewadi
Al Ittihad. I presume you're a teacher, not a student? It's not the best place around although the one in Jumeirah is better than the one in Deira from what I've heard. There's some more school posts here ...

Some do, some don't. The opportunity for mixing is there but it doesn't happen as much as you might expect just by looking at the demographics of the place.

dubaiforums :). A few more here ...
