Hi! Am packing up and heading to Dubai from Australia with no clear idea of what i'm doing. Thought it may be fun (or at least an adventure!) :D ... Can anyone offer hints, suggestions, insights or anecdotes? Would be really interested to hear from experience!

Hi Bella ! I would say that you should read up on Dubai before you get there. Familiarise yourself with as many aspects as possible. Really informative web-sites, like are extremely helpful because they contain a lot of information.
The areas both sides of Dubai Creek are very interesting....and they have one huge advantage over Oz.......no damn crocs!!
