Hi,
Welcome to Dubai Forums! :)

Hello,
I'm a student who has recently been given the oppertunity to go to Sharjah for a project. However I know nothing about this emirate state.
Can someone please tell me what:
- Cost of living is in Sharjah?
- If it is possible to share appartments and what these will cost?
- How conservative Sharjah is, I am a women so I really would like to know how the dresscode is and if women can live freely in sharjah??
- What do i need to consider before accepting the project?
The company said they would pay me a 1000euro's a month and pay for my flight ticket. How much more money will I need to be able to live in a good area in Sharjah? Sharing with other expats is also fine.
It's really difficult to find information on the internet so I hope that someone can help me.
Kind regards,
A dutch girl!

Goede Morgen Kaaskop :).
1. Cheaper than Dubai. Allow 8,000 dhs per month for accommodation, transport, food, if you do things on the cheap.
2. Possible in Dubai, I guess Sharjah too but see 3. Dubai villa shares are 3000 (hard to find) to 6000 dhs per month.
3. Much more conservative than Dubai. They have decency laws meaning you're supposed to cover up shoulders, legs, but doesn't seem to be strictly enforced. Sharing apartments/villas, living with partner is more risky in Sharjah.
4. Consider looking for a job/project in Dubai with accommodation and/or more money.
This might help you also ... .

No, Dubai
The best tip I have seen is try find something in Dubai. Sharjah is more Sharialand.
Another tip: donot export our famous products! Last month a fellow countryman got arrested with only a few grams for private use...now he spends a couple of extra years in the UAE. I know, common sense, but somehow you still see people doing it and thinking if its for private use nobody matters.

Keep it out of your bloodstream too - people have been caught after a bloodtest even though no product was with them.

Was this a test done by law enforcement or a test for residency?

Thanks for the tips  !!
Thing is I heard that dubai is much more expensive to live then Sharjah, this is true right?
What exactly do you mean with, Sharjah is more like Sharialand? (maybe I'm being very Naive, but am really wondering what I can expect)
