Just heard from Thomas Cook; looks like its Jan the 10th and I can't wait. It's going to be a tough first couple of days though because i am still not sure where exactly to rent (Barsha, Bur Dubai, Mirdif or International City). I will be working at the API World Tower on Sheik Zayed Road.

I did find a place a week after my arrival (on the very last day I was supposed to check out of the hotel my firm booked). I am now living in a very cool studio in Uptown Mirdif; people back home keep telling me: who goes to Dubai to commute (because I work at the API World Tower) but honestly, once I saw my place at Uptown I couldn't do the Bur Dubai thing.
Next step is buying a car because renting is burning a hole in my car allowance. I thought I would be a good boy and stick with the affordable Honda Jazz but I just learned that the Octavia 1.8L Turbo Charged goes for AED 69K which I think is really great!
What do you guys think, should I do it once I get the license?
