Hi; South African family coming to your shores shortly; have googled to the bone, have searched w/o success on all the usual sites, school sites, govt sites..... HELP? Looking for a school for our technically minded 15 year old son.

Thanks Bonk; very insightful. I would never have thought of using the word "vocational". Cannot access the final link but this from a mobile, so will try fm a laptop later.
How many times do they allow kids to fail? Because the subjects all look SO VERY ACADEMIC. Not a good prospect for my "let's just build the thing" son.

Almost all the technical / vocational schools are for Emirati citizens (over 16). There is one private BTEC one as far as I know but he probably has to be at least 16. This may help you...

"Fail" is a dirty four letter word in Dubai. Almost nobody fails at vocational institutes ;). The quality of education received by those who passed is very debatable though. I think it will be difficult to find something satisfactory in Dubai. Is homeschooling an option? Put him in the shed with an old car or something :) ...
