Hi there,
finally I've found the right place to get on people's nerves with questions...smile... :hello1: - hopefully soon I will be able to be of help too
I'm a German student and will move to Dubai in 1 or 2 years time, following my boyfriend who's already there. For the time being, I'm mainly looking for information about work opportunities and living circumstances, a little bit later of course I would also like to make friends with some nice people over there :D
Cheers & all the best from Cologne, Western Germany
Sara
PS: Sind noch mehr Deutsche hier vertreten? :D

Guten morgen.....by the time you move here more exciting things will happen...as you know Dubai is growing at a very fast pace....in one or 2 yrs...it will be more cosmopolitan than any other city in he world....for now...Feel free....to roam around here... :D :D :D ...
P.S. Lots of German here in Dubai.....tourist especially from cruise ship and also expats....I remember Dubai was featured in Vox channel as tourist destination once...with regards to Deutsche here in DF......have never come across anyone yet....but feel free to ask any moderator.... :D :D

To be honest, Dubai wouldn't have been my first choice to leave Germany and go abroad. I just love old cities with a long history to explore and areas with an intensive, green nature to enjoy; unfortunately, Dubai doesn't match this description much... In fact my first trip to the UAE was rather disappointing - I had the feeling it's all about business, money, shopping, no welcoming feeling at all.
But since my decision to move is made I'm now trying to find out about the qualities of the city. I think it won't be a big problem for me to get in touch with people and I would love to learn some Arabic over there, too. Plus, I am curious to learn about work possibilities like I mentioned already (just that my case is a little bit tricky - posted that in the employment forum).
Summarizing: Dubai & me was no love at first sight, but I hope we will start to like each other after knowing us a little better :D

Hey Sara have you ever been to South-America? I think you will like that more if you love culture, nature and rest.
I type German fluently and I speak it quite well, so you can also answer in your own language.

Hi LA,
I am fine with English but thanks for the offer :)
I haven't been to South America yet, but would like to go one day. Maybe in the course of my world trip - if ever I will realize it?
Although I must say South America is not my "first destination on the list"... I really like Asia (so far I know Sri Lanka and Cambodia quite well) and am very much interested in some Arabic countries, in particular Jordan, Syria, Morocco, Egypt.
Best wishes
