Koran burning nets Terry Jones $2.2 million fatwa Mar 24, 2011
Not as much as the bounty for OBL, but still pretty impressive.

And at the rate things are going, the UN should be bringing him up for crimes against humanity as well.

Terry Jones, the Florida evangelical pastor who threatened to hold a Quran burning last Sept. 11 only to back down in the face of international outrage, finally went ahead and burned one.

And now there’s a 2.2-million-dollar price on his head.

Jones appointed himself “judge” and presided over a trial hearing evidence and testimony against Islam’s holy book. A “jury” found the book guilty of crimes against humanity; promoting terrorist acts; raping, torturing and killing people “whose only crime was not being of the Islamic faith.” Also, its treatment of women was found lacking.

Interestingly, lethal injection and electrocution, the two forms of capital punishment in Florida, were not offered to the convicted holy book. Instead, an online Facebook poll picked the sentence from these choices – burning, shredding, drowning or firing squad. Burning won.

Sentence was carried out by soaking the convicted in kerosene, placing it a metal tray and igniting it with a barbecue lighter. Thirty people witnessed the execution.

That's only part of the story, Tom.

Lahore, Mar 26 (PTI) A prominent group in Pakistan, the Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat, has called for "death" to US pastor Terry Jones for his act of burning a copy of the Quran and threatened its members will march to the Pakistani capital if the US ambassador is not expelled by April 7.

Sunnat leader Allama Riaz Husain said his organisation was giving "an ultimatum to the federal government that it should banish the US envoy by April 7 or be ready for a long march from Karachi to Islamabad".

Husain said a Shariah or Islamic court comprising 500 clerics associated with the Sunni sect had declared Jones an "international terrorist" for desecrating the Quran and for damaging world peace.

This court had announced capital punishment for Jones, he said.

"We will hold demonstrations outside US embassies in 45 countries for Washington''s failure to take action against Jones," he said.

Prominent Sunni leader Sahibzada Fazle Karim, who is the chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, demanded the convening of a session of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference to announce the establishment of an "Islamic United Nations" to protest the desecration of the Quran.

He suggested that Muslim countries should quit the UN if it does not act against Jones.

All hardline groups, especially the Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Jamaat-e-Islami, are at the forefront of protests across the country against Jones'' "intolerable" act.

Anyone who draws comparisons between Muslim and Christian fanatics is clearly deluded. There is no similarity, qualitatively or quantitatively, between the two religions.

How many almighty creators do we have EH? Have you sorted this one out?...After that you can decide if there is this or that religion or whatsoever to speak about..

you have so much to learn from Ahmad Deedat as to how much the religion of prophet isa has evolved in time giving references from old testament etc.

I guess I am still -and will always be- that same goofy kid!!

Probably, the only kid around nowadays with an unstoppable invasion of grey hair, on both sides of the head!!! :D

Berrin, I was talking with respect to fundamentalism. There is no comparison between fundamentalism in Islam and Christianity. Fundamentalism in Islam is spread out and taken to greater extremes than in Christianity on a global scale.

Exhibit A:

Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Two believers killed, churches attacked, copies of the Bible burned: the Christian community in Pakistan is once again the victim of violence by Islamic fundamentalists, who have targeted places of worship in the country. The extremist violence was triggered by the insane act - repeatedly condemned by Christians in Pakistan and India – of the pastor Wayne Sapp, who last March 20, in Florida burned a Koran under the supervision of the evangelical preacher Terry Jones.
