I am sure if there are any security problems apple will fix them with updates.

Also the OSX OS which the iPhone uses already has a good level of security, far better than say Windows XP

The iPhone runs OS X and the web browser is Safari. Apple released Safari (beta) for Windows so people could go ahead and develop web apps for iPhone using Mac or Windows, I believe. It's technology that has been out for a while, sure, but I'm not sure it's right to call it old technology.
