A most unusual question - semen donor in UAE Feb 16, 2008
Hi everyone,
I have a very serious question to ask, and I hope I will not offend anyone.
I am a European lady have trouble to conceive with my husband. We have tried IFV many times with no success. Our problem is the semen... I cannot find any info on sperm donor in the UAE and I dont even know if it is allowed? Does anyone know about it?
We are considering using donor, but the waiting list in Europe is 1 to 2 years (we have been trying for 5 years already...) and it will require such a long time away from my husband that if it is possible in the UAE, it would be great! We also started the adoption process 2 years ago, but there again, the waiting is so long , the procedure so hard that we want to keep all our options open.

If any of you has info about this issue here in the UAE, i would really appreciate your help.

We will have a last go at IVF in a couple of month, and if we fail again, the we will be looking for a donor.

I do hope I did not offend anyone, and If I did, please try to put yourself in the position where you cannot get the most important thing in your life: a family...

Many thanks
ANonymous

wouldnt you want to be asking a hospital rather than an internet forum?

find a GP thats of foreign origin if you arent too comfortable asking a local or an indian, and there's nothing wrong with asking the question.

Thanks for your answers.
For some reason I could not get an answer via the phone from the clinics in Dubai. They want me to make an appointment etc. although I know what is the problem and I just want a simple answer... (I guess answering a question over the phone is bad business for the clinics).

I cant even find out if I am allowed to find a "fresh " donor myself... I wont mind doing that but i dont really want to get in trouble with the law or deported!!

Ah well, I have a couple of months to find all the info I need

Thanks for your help
and if anyone knows anything about the topic, please any input is welcome!

I am not being rude - but have you considered finding a "fresh donor" and obtaining semen in the natural way?

that way you an at least judge the looks, fitness and intelligence of your donor

I dont think you'll find the info you're looking just by asking over the phone, this is a very sensitive and personal issues to be just talked about over the phone. A personal visit to the clinic would really help ease your anxieties regarding IVF and would not hurt you either.

Hi scarlet, you are not rude. As I said in my previous post, if there are no sperm bank in the UAE (and I doubt there is), our last option will be "fresh donor", but not easy to find... and the legal side of it, especially in the UAE worries me.... Understand that I do not wish to have sex with anyone but my husband! but just find a fresh donor (but once again, i dont know if it is legal)

Reviewer: No anxieties concerning IVF for me. I have done it 4 times, I know how it works, I have done all the tests, I know why we cannot concieve (dead sperm usually dont help to achieve a pregnancy!!)

I just dont understand why the clinics cannot give me a simple answer: is there sperm bank in the UAE?. Can I get a donor?

Anyway,
thanks for the replies!

Well I guess the question is not that simple to to those clinics you have called. Anyway you tried about doing it in India, I have heard that they have some good IVF clinics (western standards) there and less expensive.

Good luck to your search. Hope your prayers are answered. May GOD bless both of you.... :)

personally i think that you came to the wrong place for the pure fact that religion and law here are intertwined into one.. you'd probably find better luck in more open minded neighbouring countries

jordan, turkey for example?

its just a suggestion .. why cant you adopt instead of finding fresh donors or sperm and all that .. as per what i understand .. fresh donor would mean you to make love to someone other then your husband .. which is not morally and ethically right no matter what the reason .. if Allah does not want you to have a kid then accept it and pray from the All-mighty .. Allah is the one who can make the dead sperms alive again .. only if you believe, pray and hope ..

dont get annoyed or hurt .. its just my opinion .. my apologies if i said anything to annoy or hurt you ..

Sirius Black.

I am not annoyed nor hurt by your comment. Believe me, a donor is the last method we would use if needed. I will not have sex with anyone but my husband. Fresh donor doesnt mean having sex with someone esle, just using the fresh semen.

In many couples, if the women cannot have children, the man will leave her. I will not leave my husband because he cannot have children. I married him for the better and the worse. But I cannot give up the hope to have a family.

As for the adoption, we started the process 2 years ago. We have been "approved" (yes, you need doctors, social workers, psychologist to declare you fit to adopt and be parent), but it takes another 2 to 5 years to bring a child home...
Yes millions of children need love and a family but governments leaves them in crowed orphanages...

I would think that adoption would be the right thing to do.... I think that rather than going to all this trouble ... If you could change one childs life along with yours for the better........ Maybe youl look back years from now and know that you did the right thing...
Doing the right thing has never been the easy way out ..... But I feel its for the greater good... but thats just me ... good luck and God bless

My 'niece' from Colombia had been adopted 20 years ago by a couple like you, and it has only brought herself and them a lot of pain and misery. The man is now dead, and the 'mother' and 'daughter' never see each other again because of major argues. The 'daughter' doesn't know her real mother at all I can write a book about this full story I'm not going to tell here.

I'd strongly advice anyone to not adopt children. Even if the kid has the same etnical looks, on long term probably you, your own child and the real mother will be not be happy with your choice.

UAE is only 50 years old (the rest of the earlier years it was just a desert with cave men)

Dont expect to find much here...

Except for money  That there is plenty off!...and Indians.

And where do you base your advise on? One bad example and a full 15 years of life experience? There are many other examples out there, where it worked out fine. How can you understand the desire for partnerhood? How can you advise against a couple trying to fulfill their wishes?

Well, it's quite possible that other expamples worked out fine, but fine doesn't necessarily mean well. It might be fine for the parents, and maybe even for the child(s) itself/themselves. But the child will probably have mental problems later on and might have problems with binding to people in the further life. The kid didn't choose, but was chosen by an organisation to help not only the new parents but also the mother and the kid with a good feeling. But I know a lot of poor people in my niece' homeland who are happy because they don't know any better circumstances. Even in war.

I'm trying to protect a kid with words, I'm not trying to stop any couple with problems. I wouldn't exist if my mother chose for adoption, she had the same problems as this woman in this thread, but she kept 'trying'(anyone should have respect for that.) and got me.

LA,

I believe each child deserves a loving family. I also believe that a child would be happier in a family than in an orphanage. This is not a question of being from a poor or rich country. I was living in Africa, and I met some happy families that had nothing, no home , hardly any food, but they had each other. The children had a family. But what about the one whose parents died? I think it is more traumatic for a child to be left alone than to be adopted...

I have a neighbour , about 15-16 years ago, she adopted a little girl bcs she couldn't have children, after 2 years she bring to life a little girl, she rise them bouth equal, but when the girls grow up everything changed bcs the adopted girl couldn't understand with her"sister" and with ther parents too, she always told me that they love only the other girl, that they buy evrything only for that girl, and that she is treated different bcs she is not their doughter, which wasn't true bcs they love her same like their own doughter, they didn't treat her different than their own doughter. When the girl maked 18 years she left from home, she get pregnent with a boy even she wasn't married , she stop going to school and now she not even call them just to see how they are, if she just could listen to them im sure she would end up good, but she always lived with the wrong impresion in her mind.

weneedhelp4ourdream go to another country and try again using a fresh semen, and regarding the adoption the same try in another country too, i cant bealive after 2 years you didn't take the child. Go to another country ....[/b]
