Company Employment Visa or Husband Visa Oct 19, 2006
What would you recommend?

I am under a company visa but I have an option to change it to Husband's visa.

If you can name some advantage and disadvantages please.

legally you can't work on your husband's visa, yes many people do but this could cause you grief in the end.

My question to you would be do you trust your current employer?

This is not correct Fayz, you need a no objection letter from the husband and you can legally get a Labour Card. I know many women who are working in this way, and with the Labour Department being a Government body, it must be legal right?

You can work legally on your fathers or husbands visa; but you should have a labor card.
Many companies dont bother issuing the labor card, so then you end up working illegally.

My apologies, looks like I stand corrected.

This is DBX’s answer to the issue.

I have looked at DXB's answer and have to mention the following;

It's not just a straightforward thing when applying for a Work Permit / Labour Card for a wife on husbands visa, their are many variables for instance;

1) Category of the Company A, B or C (Mainly related to how many employees on the books)

2) Designation to be employed, Secretary, Clerk etc.

3) Nationality to be employed; Indian, British, National etc.

4) 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of employment with the Company.

The charges can differ tremendously; for instance;

Cat A Company, British Secretary, 1st year of employment - Dhs. 10,000.00 (1 year permit)

Cat B Company, Indian Secretary, 3rd year of employment - Dhs. 3,000.00 (3 year permit)
