Ramadan - The most dangerous time on the roads! Oct 23, 2005
Why are people so nuts on the roads during Ramadan, it's the most dangerous time to be on the roads, people rushing around and endangering themselves and others for what? Food!

Taken from 7 days today:

Reckless driving has caused almost twice as many deaths on Dubai’s roads during the first two weeks of Ramadan this year compared to the entire period in 2004, Dubai traffic police said yesterday.

Thirteen people have been killed in accidents since the start of the holy month compared to eight deaths throughout, last year.

And reckless drivers rushing to break their fast are the cause of this dramatic increase in traffic related fatalities, according to Colonal Abdulla Ali Abdulla Al Ghithi, Dubai’s deputy director of the General Traffic Administration.

“Almost all of these accidents happen right before the Iftar time and after Taraweeh prayer,” Al Ghithi said. “People lose their patience in their crazy rush to get home.”

“It’s crazy. Would those drivers rather get to dinner late or not at all?” he added.

Traffic statistics collected by Dubai police showed that during the first 15 days of Ramadan this year, there have been 104 vehicle collisions - 70 of which resulted in injuries to drivers and pedestrians.

Four people have been critically wounded and 37 others incurred serious if not life-threatening injuries, police said. Al Ghithi blamed the overall rise in accidents on the increase in the number of cars on Dubai’s roads

Actually … it’s not only the drivers but the general attitude for many people who THINK that they are fasting.

I will try to comment in this issue backwardly

Since fasting came to control all types of desires and bad attitudes, Its really strange who people would react for things which go against their desires even when they know that their desires are not in the right common sense path.

You will see people are angry and not tending to talk to anyone because they are fasting or they can’t smoke or hungry or whatever … and the main excuse is: I am fasting.

And for the matter of Fact HE IS NOT FASTING AT ALL. Fasting means: not to put anything in you mouth (food or drinks) and the most important not to put anything in your heart (curses, jealousy, bad intentions, or bad thoughts about anyone) and to control you desires for S*x and smoking or whatever.

And as there is nothing has to get into the mouth, NOTHING BAD also has to come out from there, no bad attitudes… even if you were bothered or harassed or cursed by anyone, the response as a faster should be: to respond calmly: I am Fasting.

For those people who would curse or violate these rules, to consider his/her fast is gone (but that doesn’t mean he/she has to start eating afterward, he/she has to continuo till the sunset time)

So those CRAZY DRIVERS has to forget about their fast since... They are endangering people and their life even the public properties.

The Prophet side to such people: (that Allah (God) not in need for their fast).for me such a person would be just like a starving dog who will not gain anything but hunger and thirst.

Ramadan meant to be an intensive course for one month every year, to teach people to control their anger and desires and not to be as animals with uncontrollable desires.
