Info on Salary

Attau Hi, I have got an offer from Mercator, IT division of Emirates Airlines in Dubai, for the post of Technical Writer. There are offering me a little over 5000 dirhams. They are not providing housing facility and also doesnt reimburse the food expenses. What are the other aspects, apart from salary, i should look forward from them? Pls let me know, is this deal worth...
constantine hi attau from what i can tell you...5000 would not be enough to go on at all...i have visited dubai...and if your food/living is not being taken care of...its very hard...rents here are astronomical...sure you can share with some one for very cheap...but after travel/food/utilities/entertainment...you wont be left with anything or maybe a little to save for your self or send back home...i am not trying to discourage you...maybe you should try and re negotiate the contract...and ask for housing on top of the 5000/- ...as housing is the biggest hassle...do other people agree with me on this...? constantine and to add to that...other "aspects" you should ideally look at , in a "expat" contract...medical coverage by the employer...a ticket back home every year...adequate leave (UAE leave days are much more..i personally get 32 days)...depends on CO to Company...relocation allowance...a 2 week hotel stay , while you look for your place...and a advance from the employer towards your house rent...as here you have to pay upfront for a year...in 2/3 post dated checks if you are lucky...best bet is to share wth someone...but my advice is , reconsider and think hard about accepting the 5000/- only... Chocoholic If it's part of Emirates, check their medical cover, all Emirates employees should be covered, they have their own clinic and doctors etc. Also you should be able to get cheap flight tickets too such as ID 90's & ID 50's ask about those as well as your annual free ticket. I know Emirates provides accomodation for all the crew and all the senior staff get some sort of housing allowance built into their salaries, so you really need to look into that. XRW-147
Ditto, emirates crew have accomodation provided and senior staff have option to take housing allowance as oppose to provided accomodation. Transport to and from work also provided via coach service. Food is normally a 'personal' living expense and even when you're on an expat package the most you get would be a living allowance.
